My Light

I walked into my bedroom and it was a mess. "We tried to calm her." "You have to let it run it's course." I say causally sitting on my bed and laying back on my hands and Arabella ruined my room a little more. 

"I'm done." She said. I chuckled. She closed her eyes and raised her hands to hip level and the room magically went back together. Oh how I loved that trick of hers, the amount of times we used it to get out of our chores. "I apologise for my recklessness. I should have just left." She says. "No Elena needed calling out for what she was doing." Bonnie said. I was happy they were friends. My two girls. Bon, Bon and Belle. "It wasn't my place. I should apologise to her for hurting her." "can't you just be badass without the guilt?" I asked from the bed. And now I was on the floor. "Ow." I say 

"Don't be mean." She said with a soft smile. "Is she still downstairs?" "Nope." And the bitchy twins were both in my room. "You ruin my relationship with Damon now you ruin hers. I don't like either of you very much but I dislike you a little more." Katherine said with narrowed eyes. "You still recovering from the hurt of Stefan being chosen first again." She said turning to me. 

"Elena I'm truly sorry for hurting you... I just needed you to understand what you were doing to him." Arabella said ignoring Katherine completely. "Don't apologise to her." Bonnie said, she wasn't all too happy with what Elena had done to me either. Two witches fighting in my corner... nice. 

"It'll always be Stefan won't it Damon." Katherine continued. "Why did you let her out?" I asked Elena. "I had no other choice." Elena said. "Katherine isn't a choice, she's the devil in heels." I say. I flicked my eyes to Caroline and Bella, they were both looking at the phone before Caroline left quickly. Bella respond to my look with a tiger pressed to her lips telling me to stay quiet. So I did. 

"What a compliment?" Katherine said faking her sincerity. "It wasn't one." I say back. "So what you two are teaming up together for what reason?" Stefan asked helping the distraction. "To take down the evil glorified witch bitch." Arabella laughed like she found it really funny. "You take me down?" "Please. I could say one word and you would run back to whatever rock you crawled out of." She said going dark. "I don't run." "No?" "No." Katherine said. "What about for the passed 500 years?" She smirked. Katherine looked taken back. "Oh right, you don't know that Klaus is actually the one who looked after me all this time." The evil glint I knew was always their began to sparkle. The fight that was pushed down and slapped out of her coming back. "And we're like pretty close... I scream-"And I come running." Klaus said appearing in my room Caroline beside him. 

"Katherine. Hi." He said with a big smile. "I've heard from my personal private sources that you've been out to get my sweet little Arabella. Is that right?" Katherine didn't say anything just swallowed the lump in her throat. "And you Miss Gilbert has joined forces. That means you're a problem to me too." He added. "So... who first?" He said showing his fangs as his eyes glowed yellow the classic hybrid look. 

"Ari? Would you like to do the honours?" Klaus asked and in a second they were asleep on the floor, not necked snapped but just asleep. "So gentle, that's what I like about you. I personally would have snapped both their necks and then ripped their hearts out of their chests." He said looking at her with loving eyes. "So turns out my little Ari cares about." He said turning to me. I looked at him with determination not showing my uneasiness, can't let weakness shine through. "So you're off the list... lucky you." He says. "List?" Bonnie asked. "My kill list." He says causally. "It's pretty lengthy at this point. But he was on it...For just being an Ass." He said amused. "But Ari warned me not to hurt a little hair on your head." I looked at Ari. 

"And you listen now?" Stefan asked, you don't poke the bear Stefan, you let them walk away. "To her... most of the time." He says. Bella's eyes were all doe and innocent like. They were no longer dark. It was my Bella I remember back. "So do I take both?" "No. You came for Katherine you take Katherine." She tells him. "Elena's done nothing wrong other than not love enough... And if we hold her guilty for that you know we'd both be on trail." She tells him. "Very well then love." He nodded at her throwing Katherine over his shoulder. "She'll wake up in a few hours..." She tells him. "Thank you love." He kissed her cheek. "You call me... If you need anything okay." "I'll be home soon enough." She says with a smile. She's leaving. "I just need to tie up some loose ends. "Very well... just know Bex is missing you." "Well I miss her very much too." She says with a sad smile. 

"I'll be on my way now... Caroline, a pleasure as always." He kissed her cheek before he left with his body on his back. "You slept with him?" bonnie asked amused. "Oh God no." She said laughing. "Kol, yes." She flicked her eyes over to me. "Klaus he's more of a... father figure if you will." "Klas a father please." I laughed. She rolled her eyes. 

"Get Elena in bed, she'll be out for a few hours." She says. "I'll be on my way too now." She says. "I apologise for all the trouble I have caused today." "You just showed us the truth." Care says. I move Elena to the bed. "Have you thought more about my offer?" I asked her. "I have..." "Well?" I asked. "I will be staying in my own home...I do not wish to be more of a problem to the dynamics of the group. Bonnie I will gladly help you with your magic... But Care I'm out on the cheer squad... Elena's your friend and it wouldn't be fair to let you pick between the two of us just because she has hurt you right now." "You said we were friends." I say throwing the sheets over Elena's body. "In another lifetime maybe we will." 

And she walked away. 

"FUCK!" I say before running down. "Arabella please." "I'll be gone by the end of this week Damon and we can go back to pretending that neither of us exist." "But you do." "We're not children anymore, we don't need each other to patch ourselves back up... you have others now... others that love you and care for you the same way I did. Unconditionally." "I don't want. them to. I want you to. I want the light. I want to feel alive again Arabella!" She looked at me, I couldn't tell what she was thinking. "God just say something!" "I'm not the light anymore!" She shouted. "I broke. And I changed just as much as you. I try I try and be good. I try not to hurt people and lash out but that isn't me anymore. I am not what you need." She said firmly swimming the car door open and climbing in her car. "Bonnie is good... Bonnie is your light now." "No!" I tell. "Do not drive away from me Arabella!" I shout at her putting my hands on the front of her car. "Let me go Damon." "No." 

She opened her car door and I go to it and climb in. "I don't care if you're not 'good' anymore. You're good to me." "I've killed people Damon!" "So have I. Just because I could. I killed my best friend. I killed my brothers best friend because they just pissed me off." She froze looking at me. "Not as pure as I used to be either. It comes with the pain of what we went through as children and leaving for a century and a half." I tell her.

"You're still good. I see it in you. You hate to fight back. So you let people hurt you. You only hurt someone when they hurt someone you love. Thats pure. It's pure love Arabella." "I don't feel guilty about anyone I killed. Not the ones I killed because I had to... Not ones I killed to feed, not even the ones I killed just because." "Psychopath for a girlfriend... all these years and I hadn't a clue." "Funny." She said flatly. "I care, I do feel guilt but not the way I used to." She explained. "please don't leave." I asked her. "You're still my light." "And I'm also the darkness." "My princess of Chiaroscuro." She smiled knowing Italian. "I can't be with you." She tells me. "I just want you to be a friend." I tell her. As long as I had her here. I know I'll be oaky. I know I can be better. She nodded.

"Now come in and be moral support for everyone when Elena wakes up." "Elena hates me. I don't think I'll be useful in defusing that situation." I chuckle. "No but you'll be useful in keeping Caroline from staking her." "I guess I could do that." She smiled.

We both get out of the car. "Also." She looked at me. "Vampire you is hot." "Friends Damon." She sung to me as she walked inside. I smiled following her. "So are you two dating now?" "Friends." We say in unison smiling at each other. "What about you and Boyfriend snatcher." Caroline said. "Donzo." I tell them. "I'm not a choice of. I am the only." Bella smirked. She told me that when her father was making her meet other potential husbands. 

"Now what?" "I think we drink?" Arabella said. "Good I love you like this." Stefan said. Bella was always the sensible one of the trio. Stefan never drank with us, she'd keep us inline at parties but she's a little more relaxed now. "Well you are old enough now." She laughed.

I poured us all a drink. "To Friends." I say. "To friends." We cheers before downing the liquor. "When will she wake up?" Arabella looked at the bottle in her hand. "A bottle from now." She said drinking from it. "Thats mine." I tell her taking it. "Friend's share." I said taking it back. 

I looked away from her and Stefan was smiling at me. "You're back." he mouthed. I shrugged my eyebrows. 

Bella was right. A bottle later and Elena was awake. I went upstairs on myself to talk to her away from everyone because we needed to have a long talk about everything. She did hurt me and she knows it. But I wasn't;t all good to her either.
