Nini had planned a party for her and all her friends.
Christopher and Kourtney helped her set up. She's getting used to him.
At the end of the night, they all went up to the roof and waited for the countdown.
When the clock struck 12 everyone was popping confetti or kissing their s/o.
Then as the girls went down with their heels in their hands, she and Chris stayed behind a bit.
They stayed in comfortable silence, watching the last of the fireworks.
Until Nini broke it.
"i've never done this without him. it's bittersweet. you know, he'd come here every year. he always brought me these umm.. these little red velvet cupcakes."
"he started doing that cause in 7th or 8th grade i think, i had a bad day. so he brought those saying that we should start the year on a high note. it feels wrong without him."
"i know."
"you know what, how about we ditch and go get some cupcakes? for them?"
"really?"
"yeah let's go. i'll help you clean up later."
