"Wait, how do you know she's got the Serum in her?" Peter asked.
"The blue stain, first of all. Second of all, the muscle spasms mean that they're strengthening. She's in pain, but it'll pass once the Serum has done what it's designed to do." The woman, Wanda, said.
"How do you know so much about the Serum?"
"We have friends who are very familiar with it. Now I need to patch her up so the cuts don't get infected."
Wanda used some alcohol on a cotton ball to clean the cuts, Maya seething at the sting. Sweat beaded on her forehead while Wanda applied some healing ointment onto a cotton pad. She then took the bandages and wrapped Maya's stomach area up to hold the pad in place. Wanda then put a damp washcloth on Maya's head as she started to flutter in and out of consciousness. Her limbs would occasionally scrunch up and twitch as she let out a muffled moan of pain.
"Rest, khrabryy." Wanda bade her gently. She packed up the first aid kit and passed it back to Pietro. He then slid it back under the cabinet. Wanda gestured for Peter to sit down at the small table next to the bed. He cautiously sank down into the chair as Wanda sat across from him. Pietro leaned against the counter facing them. "I'd imagine you have a few questions."
"Yeah, I do, actually." Peter said.
"Okay, well, we have a few questions as well. First, what are your names?"
"I'm Peter Parker and that's my girlfriend, Maya Adams. We're still in school."
"I see. Well, I know one of your questions is who we are exactly. You know I'm Wanda and that's Pietro. We're what the public calls 'The Maximoff Twins.'" Wanda said.
"The enhanced individuals who were pardoned back in 2016?" Peter asked. "Yeah, I remember you guys. You have telekinetic powers and you have super speed." Peter gestured to each twin respectively.
"That's right, however we tend to limit the use of our abilities in general because we never know when our luck will change. What were you two doing near the Palace?"
"Maya's dog got loose and we were chasing it from her house a few miles away. We had to let it go, though. She lives close because her dad's the finance manager, you see." Peter looked between the twins. "How do you know so much about the Serum?"
Wanda bit her lip, looking at her brother as if asking if she should explain. He nodded at her once, seeming like he trusted Peter.
"Okay, here's the thing: we were pardoned because the assassins that were hired to get us were planning on rebelling. You know them as the Winter Soldiers. We reported it and we were let go. But... Well, it was more of an elaborate plan to get shelter for all of us. None of us are really staging any sort of rebellion or resistance, but the four of us sort of... Pool our resources and help each other out. We've been allied for about five years now. They have their own shack not too far from here, but that sofa over there is a pull out in case they wanna stay the night. They told us everything they know about the Serum because they were pumped full of it years and years ago."
