Maya
I tossed and turned in the guest room, which Hongseok had ended up setting my clothes and things in. Staring up to the ceiling, I recount the blood on Hongseok's shirt, sending chills down my spine. In one last attempt to sleep, I look at the window to my right-hand side. Had Hongseok not been right down the hall when I opened my door, I probably would've been dead. I close my eyes, letting some time pass by until I finally get up. I silently make my way to Hongseok's room, only not to see him there. I walk out to the living room, seeing him sprawled out on the couch watching Netflix.
"Hey," I say, making him jump. "Oh, sorry!"
"It's alright, what's wrong?"
"Can't sleep. My mind is too vivid in what happened."
"You okay?" He makes his way towards me, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"Can I sleep with you?" I question, then realize how bad that sounds. "Wait, I meant with you in your bed."
He chuckles, "That was a good save, huh, Maya? Yeah, you can. It can be hard on a person to witness what you did."
"Then, how are you okay? You a police officer or something?" I drag out, walking to his door as he turns off the T.V.
"Essentially, yes, but it is classified," he sighs. Not paying attention and being half asleep, I bump into him and look up at his face. His arm made its way to the wall behind me, his face less than a centimeter away from mine. His eyes pour his soul into mine.
"Maya?"
"Hmm?"
"Can I kiss you?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's the next morning and I wake up to myself in an unfamiliar bed in a large shirt that definitely isn't mine. My hand had fallen to a chiseled chest that belonged to Hongseok, who was fast asleep beside me. His eyelashes were slightly curled up, his lips looked to be pink as a rose, and his cheeks were sharp. Never had I seen what I do now.
"You can take a picture. It lasts longer."
I remove my hand, "Sorry."
"It's fine, don't worry."
I get up silently, making my side of the bed I had slept in while he made his side.
"Do you think it would be possible for me to stay maybe a few days in order to recuperate from last night? If not, it's fine, but I really am not sure if I'll be ready by tonight," I break the silence.
"Should be fine, I do have a few friends coming over later, by the way," he smiles gently.
"Alright. Thanks. I need to check in my cat, fuck," I sigh.
"Way ahead of you. He is in the other bathroom."
"Oh, thanks. When did you get him?"
"When you were in the shower." I nod, looking off into the distance.
"So, last night, when you said that you weren't a good guy, what did you mean?" I finally look at him, but he avoids my eyes.
"Don't worry about it."
"Fine." I grab my clothes, taking them to the guest bathroom, and closing the door. Atwood jumps up on the counter, purring a little.
"Hey good boy," I smile, rubbing his head between his ears. I love his bowls down onto the floor. "Hungry?"
It had to be thirty minutes later than I had exited the bathroom, entering the living room and kitchen. The area some guys I didn't know were.
"Whoa, Hongseok, you had a chick over?" The one who was unbelievably tall looks gobsmacked.
"No, she's my neighbor. Someone broke into her apartment last night and scared the shit out of her. She's staying here for a few days to recover from shock and PTSD from it," he explains. "Maya, this is Wooseok, Changgu, Hyunggu,Yuto, and Yan.."
"Yanan," I smile a bit, then awkwardly smile and wave at the rest of the figures. "Nice to meet you."
"Wow, didn't know Hongseok had such a beautiful neighbor," The man who is called Changgu walks over. "Nice to meet you." He motions his hand out like he wants to shake hands. I shake his hand politely, smiling a little.
"How do you know Yanan?" Hyunggu raises an eyebrow.
"Well, he helped me pick out my cat the other day," I smile, looking at him.
"Atwood, right?" Yanan looks at me excitedly.
"Yep! I'm going to the courtyard on the roof if you need me."
"Don't you have work?" Hongseok asks, confused."
"No, I have Fridays off." I pull a bread face. "Anyways, I'm off."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The air surrounding me finally felt free of whatever had followed me on the way up. The clouds gently moved across the sky, painting a picture that only a single person could understand. The plants that surrounded the edge of the roof moved with the breeze, providing a natural sound machine that I call nature. I lay my head back on the bench and closed my eyes, breathing in. The sun was shining enough to the point I had to squint a little. I heard the door unlatch and swing open gracefully. The sun disappeared off my face, so I opened my eyes. In front of me was a guy with brown hair with some dark blonde highlights, the gentlest chocolate eyes, and a slight smile on his lips.
"You alright there?" He asks.
Pondering for a minute, I reply, "Fine, but why are you blocking the sun?"
"You could get sick from too much exposure to the sun, duh," he acted as if it was the most obvious answer.
"Well, I wasn't even out here for 5 minutes. Why are you up here?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Because there is an amazing view of a cute girl." He stares at me.
"I'm Maya," I gave him a little smile.
"Jung Subin." He smiles, showing his minuscule dimples.
