Maya
Looking left and right between the stoplights and the crosswalk, I sigh, wanting to be able to hurry to the bakery I had recently been hired at. I had just moved to Seoul to clear my mind of everything from the past year. After an emotionally draining time from where I lived, I knew it was for the best.
I look up to the crosswalk lights, seeing a now green light flashing. With the okay given to cross, I dash across the street and turn to my right. The Haneul Bakery was just ahead, but not before I manage to run into a tall figure.
"Sorry!" I yell, before continuing my run around the figure. My sneakers were inside the door of the bakery for my 9 AM shift. I put my small purse in the back area, getting my apron on, and tying the ribbon in the back. The owner, Mrs. Han, walks into the front area of the bakery, flipping the sign to open.
"Hello, Mrs. Han! Good morning!" I bow, smiling a little.
"Hello, Maya! How are you this morning?" She asks, giving me a bright smile.
"I am doing alright! Just a bit tired, but it won't kill me, " I chuckle a bit before the bell to the door opens. A tall figure to Mrs. Han and I's much smaller frames steps through the door. I look up to see a handsome face that looked to be pure, but his outfit says otherwise, heading toward the counter, where I was located.
"Hello! Welcome to Haneul Bakery! Is there anything I can help you with?" I ask, a smile on my face.
"Well, I don't know. Do you have any cake designs I can look at? Nothing too extravagant, but a very good presentation, " he looks at the cakes in the display case, walking along the side of the counter.
"Well, we have these, " I inform, pointing at a strawberry-flavored mousse cake with a small gelatin flower in the center and vanilla icing.
"What else do you have?" He asks, sighing a bit.
"We also have a raspberry cream cheesecake, " I move him in the direction of the cake.
"That could work since my friends will be all over it either way, " he chuckles, a few of his upper teeth show, giving him a rather cute look.
"Would you like to buy it?" I ask, smiling a bit.
"Yeah, and a chocolate cupcake to go please, " he presses his lips together, sighing.
"Alright, that'll be 42,974.40 won, please, " I scan the barcode for the cake and the singular cupcake. He takes out his wallet and gives me 50,000 won.
"Keep the change, I know what working on just tips can be, " the tall male figure says.
"Oh, thank you, sir, " I smile, bowing slightly and finish bagging the cake and cupcake. He didn't say anything, grabbing the desserts and leaving the store.
"Well, he was handsome, " Mrs. Han declares, as soon as he was out the door.
"Mrs. Han!" I chuckle.
