Maya
I awoke in a white room, with a blue blanket draped across my body. The sun shines as bright as it could, although never reaching my bed. I sat up, groaning in pain as it shot through my spine. A knock on my door sounded through the silence.
"Come in."
A familiar figure came through the door, with a woman I can only assume is the doctor.
"Maya, I'm Doctor Kang. I took care of you. I got word from your boyfriend here and a man by the name of Hongseok when you were brought in."
His name made me nervous, gripping the sheets.
"Ah, yes. That sounds correct."
"You have a fracture in one of the vertebrae in your back, so I do plan to have you in almost a corset to make sure that it does heal properly. Your tailbone is bruised, so I recommend taking caution. Sit on soft chairs and make sure that there isn't as much pressure as there usually would be. With that, I'll leave you two to be," she smiled, bowing slightly before exiting.
"I was so worried," Geonhak rushes to my side, grasping my hand.
"Well," I lift my arms above my head, stretching. "I'm alive." I smile, causing a small chuckle to arise from him.
"That you are," he rubs the back of my hand.
"The baby is alright, by the way."
"Really? Oh my goodness," I sigh in relief, gently turning to my side in the bed, and keeping my eyes on him. "She didn't say anything, so I was a little nervous."
"I wanted to tell you myself," Geonhak smiles, kissing my hand. My heart flutters, a kaleidoscope of emotions taking over. My eyes start to water, a cry of pain leaving my lips.
"It hurts," I cry, wanting to ball up and cry, but being unable to.
"What hurts, baby?" His hand combs my hair to the side.
"Everything."
"Just breathe, I'm here," Geonhak sighs. "Grip my hand as hard as you want, your body is understandably going to hurt."

Geonhak
"Just breathe, I'm here," I sigh, my eyes trailing down her body. "Grip my hand as hard as you want, your body is understandably going to hurt."
My eyes trail her sheets and legs, wanting to make sure that the baby is alright.
"I need to go to the bathroom." I hear from her lips, as tears continue to fall.
"Do you want me to help?"
"If you don't mind."
"Of course I don't. I'm here for you," I help her stand up, walk, and gently guide her into the bathroom. I gently slide the door closed, sighing. Why was Hongseok avoiding my question about what happened to Maya? Did something happen because of him that ended up with her falling down the stairs? Maya would tell me the truth, right?
"Geonhak?"
"Yeah, Maya?"
"Call the nurse, please."
"What's wrong?"
"Im bleeding," her voice was heavy.
"You were bleeding before though," I question.
"This isn't normal, especially during pregnancy." I nod, going to press the button.

"Alright, Maya," a technician came in with an ultrasound machine. "I know about your back, so I'm going to have you lay on your side in order to avoid any pain."
"Alright," her breath was heavy, a humongous question on her mind. I knew that her mind was in a million places, but the main question was the fate of her baby. I had to be there for her, no matter what.
"Alright, it is going to be cold, so just a warning now," the technician says, before he squirts the jelly on the transducer. He moves it to her belly, moving it around for a minute, looking for the baby.
"So it looks like this is baby right here," he points to the screen, where a white blob rested. The area of the heart was still. I bite the inside of my cheek, grabbing her hand gently. "I will be right back, I need to get a second opinion."
"Alright, thank you," I smile grimly. The silence between us is incredulous. "Maya?"
"I think they're gone," Her voice cracks. "I don't want them gone."
"They're not gone, they're healthy, love," I try my best to comfort her. She sighs, tears run down her cheeks. At that moment, Doctor Kang came through the door.
"Hi again, Maya," she greets again, taking the transducer to my belly. She moves it around gently, scanning the screen. "Alright, unfortunately, today unfortunately, one of the babies has not made it. The other is still going strong. I'm classifying this as a high risk pregnancy."
"What do you mean other?"
"You were pregnant with twins, miss Ahktar."
