Maya

I had just taken my apron off, grabbing my bag, and walking to the front of the bakery. Flipping the sign from "Open" to "Closed", I close the door gently behind me. I walk down the street to see a kitten sitting by the window, looking at all the passersby. I smiled, bending down to meet its eye level and putting a finger to the glass softly. The kitten had pressed its paw to the window, where my finger was placed. I decided to go into the store for once to play with the kitten.
"Hello! Welcome to Pet Palace! I'm Yanan, " a tall male around the corner from the kitten called.
"I'm Maya, I saw that black and white kitten in the window. Has anyone adopted him?" I ask, looking hopeful.
"Well, no, he hasn't been adopted," Yanan smiles. "I've never seen you before, where are you from?"
"Thailand," I respond, sighing a bit.
"Ah, I'm from China if that helps," I hear him walking over. Him being much taller than my small frame, he unlocks and grabs the small kitten from the glass enclosure. I take the male kitten from his hands gently. His blue-gray eyes meet mine, and I fell in love.
"How much is it to adopt him?" I ask, gently running my finger over the kitten's head.
"It is 61,916.50 won, but with everything included. We have a vet who had been keeping up on his shots," he smiles. "And from what I see, you will provide him a home full of love."
"That I will do," I smile.
"Let's go get everything, then I will check you out at the register," Yanan leads me towards everything quickly.
-time skip to when they both teach the register-
"Alright, here is 62,000 won. Everything is rung up, right?" I ask.
"Sure is, but I have two questions," Yanan says. "Number one: what will his name be?"
"Gosh, I was actually thinking about it and really liked the name Atwood," I smile at the kitten, then at Yanan.
"Alright," he types the name into the computer, hitting print. "Second, you're really pretty, may I have your number?"
He looks down as if to hide a blush across his cheeks.
I let out a one-sided smile, "Oh, sure." I grab his arm, and a pen, gently writing my number on his wrist. "Sorry for it being on your wrist, but it's better than a paper which can get lost."
"It's alright, don't worry. Thanks," he smiles gently.
"You're welcome," I smile.
"See you, Maya," Yanan waves. "Bye Atwood!
He's cute. So is the kitten.
