And every night following that one, every night when you decided to grab an early morning snack- he was there. You spent most of your time in class staring at his back, and how the tips of his pale hair split and curled.
They bounced with every shrug of his shoulder, but it wasn't just that. You also spent your time studying, practicing your quirk and even requesting tutor lessons. Though, every faculty staff that you went to disagreed.
"Stick with your class." it seemed as if that was all they knew how to say. There was no where else to go to, and expensive agencies with pros didn't seem to help much either. After all, every quirk is unique to their user.
"It's raining again." you thought, as you tossed another blackberry into your mouth. They weren't ripened yet, but you knew that if you waited a few more days, they would end up all rotten and moldy.
"I wonder if he ever gets sick." using your other hand, you swirled a few strands of hair around the tip of your finger. "Do you think that's a myth?" you thought to yourself, asking an imaginary someone or audience.
Bakugo sat in the pouring rain, using his weakened sparks as a form of light source. You could see the reflection of his sodden face in the splashing water, though every raindrop that rippled the puddles disturbed it.
"He's going to get sick." your lips moved without producing any sound, as you shut the heavy fridge door and threw the plastic container of berries into the trash. Your eyes were locked on, just waiting for him to move.
But all Bakugo did was sit in the pouring rain, with his legs spread open and his back heavily hunched. The unthinkable came true, and your once conscious head had turned foggy. First steps lead to a second, then a third.
The moonshine only seemed to get brighter as you drew closer, with blankets wrapped around your arms and feet. You shimmied all the way to the doors, and with the heave of an arm, you opened them wide.
"I thought you had a bedtime." you whispered, the tips of your hair swimming back due to the harsh breeze. The goosebumps on your arms only grew more stiff, eventually spreading down towards your bare ankles.
"What did you just say?" Bakugo didn't face you, nor did he look back when he said those words. His tone was immediately agitated, just like the front he put up in every single class. "Who the hell are you?"
He turned around, without standing up or scooting away. "Tch. Get the hell out of here." his words were blunt and sharp, yet you only felt humiliation instead of some form of heartbreak. "..I said, get out of here!"
"Quit gettin greedy! Other people want to come out here too, y'know?" you hesitantly leaned back against the heavy door, bending your right knee and trying to keep your face dry from drops of cold rain.
"..So you really want to fucking test me right now? Don't do something you'll regret." he yanked his gaze away from yours, though it was never directly on you to start with. He looked at your feet and the floorboards.
"What are you going to do? I thought you were an honor student, and what happened to your curfew?" this confident, sly attitude came out of nowhere. Part of you didn't even know how to control it whatsoever.
The only reason why you were doing this, was because you didn't know how to approach him. Your words spurt out like wildfire, uncontrollable and only increasing in heat. However, you soon learned it was a mistake.
"You extras just never learn, do you? You're just like everyone else, a dumbass that got into this damn school by luck." his cruel words that once only made you feel embarrassed, were now suddenly hurting.
"Now, get the fuck out of here. I don't want to deal with chicks like you." even though he wasn't yelling per usual, that quiet, aggressive tone stung more than any yell or scream that he had said this semester.
"All the same, you're all the damn same!" you could hear cracking sparks, though you couldn't tell what direction or hand they were coming from. "Only Uraraka is pretty strong, but she hangs out with that nerd, Deku."
As you tried to blindly back away into the dorm building, your heavy blanket got caught on the doorknob. With its large wrap around your body, everything came crashing down and your ways of escape were useless.
It all happened in a flash, like you were too slow. Maybe if the fabric hadn't gotten caught, or maybe if you listened to your gut that told you not to leave the kitchen. It only took a quick blink of an eye.
Clouds of suffocating smog and balloons of orange and red blocked your vision, as your nostrils slowly inhaled the foul scent of burnt skin and flesh. The slight moment of numbness lasted too short of a duration.
Your feet were stinging, radiating pain through up your knees and thighs. The pain made your held breath come loose, as you grunted quietly. Finally getting a grip on the door, you threw yourself into the dorm lobby.
Before the door could completely close, you heard Bakugo's gasp. As you limped towards the elevator and clung onto the back of padded sofas, you rushed out of that scene as fast as you possibly could.
He didn't chase after you, nor did he call out your name. It wasn't a severe burn, all it really needed was to be cleaned and to have ointment applied. But without taking another chance, you fled.
Biting down on your chapped lip to ease away the increasing level of pain, your thoughts and opinions were lost and scattered. They wouldn't be sorted until you were back, safe in your room, however.
And the word "Asshole." was all you could repeat or think to yourself.
