Mina and you had your arms spread out like airplanes, walking one foot at a time over the slender walls. Tilting to the left, then to the right, you giggled and stared at the cobblestone pavement meters below.

Every time you peeked up, a blinding ray of sun would find its way past your squinting lids. The clouds were grey, and the sky a swirling vortex made of orange and red. It lit up your hair, until it appeared as a paler shade.

"What grade did you get on your literature test, Ms. Tutored?" Mina teased, skipping past your mark on the edge and flying forward at full speed. "Cementoss gave me a frickin' seventy. A seventy!"

"Hey, it's okay! We're still hot." you laughed out loud, reaching for Mina's hand and locking your fingers with hers. She flung her head back and cracked up, almost ruining the balance for the two of you.

"I got a hundred." you proudly said, checking your wrist and counting the eleven-thousandth step. "Romeo and Juliet is surprisingly easier than those stupid sonnets from before." it hurt just thinking about them.

"Full scores?! Are you kidding me?" Mina groaned out loud, tugging you and disturbing your rhythm. You both screamed as you tipped over, tumbling onto the rough stones that dug into your knees.

There were pebbles in your hair, tangled in with the many knots from physical education class. She instantly began to apologize, repeating the words, "Waaah! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" yet you couldn't help but laugh.

Her heavy weight was crushing your poor ribs, and her palms dirty with crumply soil. You sat up and checked your knees, which were covered in nothing but small indents from the sudden impact.

Mina was trying to situate herself, but you cried and yelled out, "This isn't over yet!" before tackling her back. She squirmed and whined, trying to fight off your shifting weight. "I've gotcha now!"

She was trying to spit out all of the twigs, fragrant flowers gliding into her curly hair. Mina's cheeks were flushed with a natural shade of rose, and her mascara smudged to the line of her browbone.

It was the end of this long, school day, so her deodorant wasn't at its full potential. You both radiated off a foul odor, one reeking of sweat and underarms. But still, you were playing in the bushes outside campus.

"Uughh, and I just did laundry yesterday.." she groaned, pulling down the hem of her pleated skirt. There was mud smudged all over the fabric, and her bra was peeking out of the uniform's translucent undershirt.

You wiped the sweat off your forehead, and didn't expect her to suddenly flip the situation. Mina used a method taught during training, pinning you down against your chest and holding your hands behind your back.

The roosting birds in the surrounding trees must've heard the ruckus, as they flapped their wings and cawed away. Flying in a school of coordinated feathers, they hurried to migrate towards another tree.

"Now you owe me a milkshake." you laughed, lifting up your head and straining the back of your neck in the process. Mina rolled her eyes and scoffed, reminding you of a certain someone. "Seriously!"

"Well, you owe me one first." she argued, and she had a point too. Sliding her weight off of you and robbing your feet of one of their sneakers, you instantly got up and began to chase her around the forest.

The uneven height made you limp, but that didn't stop you from running at full speed. You made sure to check behind every mossy stump, breathing in the refreshing scent of trimmed pine and cedar.

Your cheap socks were now stained with the unflattering shade of dark brown, not to mention there were sharp shards of rocks digging into the soles of your feet. "Who's paying?!" you screamed a question.

Unbuttoning your uniform and exposing the nearly transparent undershirt beneath, you tossed the tailored outfit onto the grass to mark your entrance. "Minaaa!~" you called and yelled for your hiding, best friend.

"Obviously not me!" she appeared from behind, quickly wrapping her arms around you and accidentally grabbing your chest. "You owe me an extra large, strawberry milkshake with a whole lotta whip."

"Cuz look at my clothes!" you turned around, dropping your jaw as you spotted every dirt mark stamped onto the sheer fabric. She wasn't kidding, and there was a whole tiny branch sticking out of her hair.

"My parents are gonna be so mad." she yanked the clumped leaves from her hair, tearing past the knotted tangles and standing bothered. You blushed and pulled down the folded pleats of her skirt.

"Mine are too!" you kicked up one leg and showcased your torn sock, with a large rip that was extending down the middle. "Well, at least it's the weekend. We can go shopping, and yes- we can get milkshakes."

She glared at you with a certain look, furrowing her eyebrows and squinting her lids. "Mhmm, mhmm. And? Do you have anything else to say?" you knew what she wanted to hear, and you were planning to do so anyways.

"And I'll pay." after saying that, Mina cheered and threw her hands up into the air. She hugged you tightly and squeezed the skin on your back, making your knees tremble. "I get it, I get it!" you pleaded.

"Also, where's my shoe?" you asked, while Mina quickly pulled away. She looked around and got up on the tips of her toes, shrugging her shoulders and making your heart drop inside of your chest.

"Dunno." she laughed, covering your open mouth with the palm of her hand. "I'm just kidding, (Y/N)!" you gasped in relief, waiting for her to finally tell you where your other school shoe had been hidden.

"I threw it over the cliff."
