You crossed your arms and sighed, before picking a few stray strands of hair out of your mouth. Bakugo's elbows were straightened, and his hands planted against the wooden porch. "What the hell do you want?" he asked.
"Nothing, just waiting for you to go to bed, I guess." you muttered, tapping your toes against the hollow floorboards. It had been a few weeks, and all of your old burn marks had recovered without leaving scars.
"You need to learn how to mind your own fuckin' business." he groaned, before ruffling his fingers throughout his pale, blonde hair. "You're not my god damn babysitter!" he scoffed and probably rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, maybe so. But, I can tell when a person is bothered by something." you hesitated, but after taking a deep breath and gathering the courage, you began to trudge forwards Bakugo again, just like that night.
"So, what's up?" you plopped yourself beside him, dangling your feet over the edge and swaying them back and forth. He scooted away, yanking his arm from you even though your skin wasn't even close to touching.
"You've been weird all day." you didn't peek in his direction, and instead kept your eyes glued up onto the cratered moon. It's blue shine created a glow on your cheeks, changing some parts of your hair white.
"I don't fight girls, so leave, (Y/N)!-" Bakugo was about to yell.
"Hey, I didn't know that you knew my name!" you giggled, closing your eyes as you smiled brightly. You fiddled with your thumbs and tried not to peel your nails, curling your toes inside of your slippers.
"What type of dumb answer is that? Of course I know your name.." Bakugo was visibly tossed aback, and his eyebrows curved in confusion as he slowly settled down. "You're my classmate, it's common logic."
"Really? It's hard for me to memorize names unless you can leave a notable impression." you giggled, covering your mouth as you laughed. Creating light sparks in your hands for warmth, you pretended nothing happened.
"I'm guessin' that's your way of telling me that I caught your eye, huh?" he chuckled, showing a side of himself that you had never seen before. In class he was agitated all the time, but right now he seemed vulnerable.
"Who wouldn't remember the person that burnt their feet?" you said, before watching all of the kind expression in his face fade away. Bakugo was smiling, but that smile was short-lived, and now he was back.
The temperamental boy in every class, who wore too strong of a cologne layer. The boy who was always frowning or upset, and constantly yelling at other innocent people. That was the signal to leave, you guessed.
"Yeah, whatever.." he folded his legs and hugged his knees, staring away and refusing to give you that sweet fulfillment of locked eyes. "Hurry up and get out of here, I don't want your annoying company." he scoffed.
You had a feeling that he was sparing your feelings, but you didn't want to push him further. Accepting the little amount of friendship points for the night, you sighed and without saying a word, got up and left.
Tightly holding your breath until you heard the heavy door fully shut, once it did, you noticed your hands shaking. You couldn't control it, nor could you maintain the rapid trembling of your freezing legs.
Maybe it was the cold weather, or just the nervousness of being around Bakugo. It wasn't that you liked him, since you barely knew him. But perhaps it was just fear, fear of being burned again past recovery.
Picking your drooping blanket off the head of the padded sofa, you slung it over your sloping shoulders and let it trail across the wooden floorboards. You struggled to fit inside of the elevator, but you made it.
For some reason, you didn't want to return back into your lonely room. A cramped room filled with hundreds of human faces, all of them belonging to hanging posters on the painted walls. So, you went to Mina.
You quietly knocked on her door, even getting on your knees and whispering beneath the frame. "Pssst! Psssssttt!" your voice slowly increased in volume, until you were blatantly calling for your best friend.
"Uuuugh.." Mina unlocked her door, groaning loudly and rubbing her eyes. Trudging blindly out into the empty halls, she asked "Who's there?" before accidentally slamming the heavy wood on your forehead.
"Ouch!" you complained, crawling away backwards. Mina gasped and took your hand, making you trip and faceplant again the dust. "Double ouch.." you muttered, as your shirt skated up your chest.
"Girl, what are you doing outside of my room at midnight? Midnight?!" Mina yelled in an inside voice, shutting the door behind her and releasing her tight grip. You could feel the fluffy, pink rug against your cheek.
Mina's room had a color scheme of black and pink tiger stripes, paired with purple heart furniture and even a few stuffed animals. Her closet and bed took up most of the small space, including a huge lamp.
From her desk to her trashcan, everything was the same, hot pink shade. She had hanging racks of jerseys and hats, even cheetah print leggings. Her air conditioner was set to the coldest temperature, too.
"Aren't you going to answer me?" Mina bugged, while you tried to adjust to the fragrant scent of the room. Mina was definitely the type of person to spray loads of perfume, and walk into the chemical cloud.
"Just let me sleep already.." you groaned, crawling and clawing your way to her bed. You doubted that there was enough space, yet without a single hint of hesitation, you delved into her comfortable sheets.
"H-Hey! What about me?" Mina stomped her feet and whined loudly. Using the last of your energy, you tilted your head to the side and opened your sluggish eyes, staring right at her with a serious look.
"Next to me." you teased, giggling lowly and closing your eyes again. Clutching her stuffed, rabbit doll next to your thumping heart, you smiled as you felt yourself slowly add to the harmless taunt.
"Duh!"
