Sarah could not stop herself from looking over and over again at the guy who had been behind her in line.  She was confident he didn't know as she was tucked into a booth and obscured from view.  That was one good looking man, she had to admit.  The guy with him wasn't bad looking either.  Neither man had left their table since they had arrived and as she looked at their clothing, she wondered if they were gay.  That would be about right.  All the good looking ones usually were... or players.  Considering that they were not cruising the women, she was going to bet the first.  She blew her bangs up out of the way before taking the tequila shot in front of her and tossing it back.

She was feeling very warm.  Melissa was mingling at the moment.  She admired her friend.  She was vivacious, beautiful, and captivating to everyone she was around.  Sarah smiled as she watched her pat a guy half her age on the chest with a shake of her head before going to the bar after another round.  Sarah wondered what that was like... to be a shining star and noticed by all.

Sarah probably shouldn't have drank rum earlier.  It always made her feel like the biggest piece of shit on earth.  It was hard not to feel that way.  She had gone through life in the shadows, never seen by men.  Always friendzoned or worse, ridiculed and humiliated.  She thought she had finally found the jackpot with her ex-husband, Marc.  Then after eight years of marriage he announced that he was gay and done living a lie.  He had thought that since she was a bit of a tomboy that he could keep living the lie but he no longer could.  If anything was going to make a woman doubt herself, that did it.

Fuck men.  Fuck all of them.  She was done with them.  She didn't need a man.  She got her kicks and thrills off of watching her favorite character Kakashi.  In her mind, she could drift off into the fantasies all her own and not get destroyed like she had been in real life.

"I'm too old for that shit anyways," she muttered to herself.

She didn't care what Melissa said.  She felt old in her heart and spirit.  On the flipside, Melissa had not had any better luck with men.  Her ex-husband had been a worthless lump of meat.  He had spent most of their marriage unemployed, playing video games, screwing whatever woman he could, and staying doped up.  She had hung in for almost ten years before he had run off with another woman to another state.

Fuck men.  Fuck them all.

Melissa came back to the table, thumping down three more shots in front of Sarah and a Pina Colada.  She had a rum and coke for herself and three shots of a green alcohol.

"Good Lord, are you trying to get me plastered?" Sarah asked as she looked at the drinks.

"Yup," Melissa said with an unrepentant grin.

The caterwauling of the karaoke singing had started about ten minutes before and whoever the chick was that was currently singing, should have been taken out of their misery.  She winced as she hit such an off-note that it made her head hurt.  She tossed back two of the shots in response, feeling the warmth spread through her limbs.  Tequila was a sleeper drink and she had a feeling she was going to be plastered once those hit her.

"I'm going to hit the ladies room," she mumbled as she slid out of the booth on some rather unsteady legs.  Shit, was she already drunk?

Kakashi could not help but notice the lady in red because Iruka wouldn't shut up about her.  She was flitting about and looked as if she was getting hit on by at least a few men as she went to the bar for more drinks.  She was shooting every one of them down, which was a bit surprising to him.  As bold as she had been with Iruka earlier, he assumed she was there to hook up.

"Damn, why did I have to see her on mission?" Iruka groaned.

"Cheer up, she's turning everyone down." Kakashi remarked.  "If she's still here by the time we finish up surveillance, I'll look the other way."
