{3rd person POV}
"C'mon, stay awake." Derek said, adding pressure to the gunshot in hopes to slow down the bleeding. "D-Derek..." Victoria gasped, desperately trying to breath but also trying to tell Derek something. "I-I need to.. tell you-" "You can tell me later okay, Victoria? Just stay with me a little longer. The ambulance is on it's-"
"It's.. it's time. It's time for me to.. go. I need you... to know-" Derek shook his head, tears spilling from his eyes. "No, you'll get to tell me later, you'll get to tell me whatever it is, please." Derek begged and begged, the crowd of people surrounding them both. The shooter most likely long gone and nowhere to be found.
A tear slipped down Victoria's cheek, her hand shakily cupping Derek's jaw. "It's time.. baby boy. I'll be.. your angel." She wheezed, the pain making it impossible to breathe normally. "The ambulance is here, hold on for me please, please I can't lose you."
She started to hiccup, struggling to get air in her lungs. The medics made their way to her quickly, slipping an oxygen mask over her face. "Are you family?" The medic asked sliding Victoria onto the stretcher. "I'm her fiancé." Derek quickly lied, it was a white lie, harmless really. The medic let him in, Derek fleeing to her side.
Her heavy wheezing was still heard through the oxygen mask, medics scurrying around and hooking her up to an IV. "She's gonna be okay, right? She's gonna make it?" Derek asked, desperately looking for reassurance. "We'll do everything we can, Sir."
They pulled up to the hospital, the medics rushing her in. Doctors and nurses were by her side the moment she was through the door. "She's lost a lot of blood! Gunshot to the stomach, get her into surgery ASAP!" The doctor's words floated around Derek's mind. I need to call Lyla. Derek thought, pulling out his phone.
Ring... Ring... Ring
"C'mon pick up, Ly-" "Derek? Is everything-" Derek's voice shook, breaking in the middle. "No, Victoria... she was shot.. she's going into surgery." Lyla's heart sunk, her breathing cut short on the other end. "I'm on my way, which hospital?" Lyla knew she had to be the strong one, Derek was already falling apart, she knew that if that was Tom, she would be a mess.
"Derek, listen to me, Victoria needs you to be strong. Can you call the team? I'm sure they'd want to know." Derek nodded, trying desperately to gather his thoughts and form coherent sentences. "Uh.. yeah.. I'll call.. I'll call them. Let them know." They said their goodbyes, Derek sending a quick text to the team group chat, not having the energy to explain it over the phone.

I don't know who it was, I should've-" Lyla shook her head, wrapping her arms around him. "You were there with her, by her side. That's what matters. She's gonna be alright, she's always been a fighter." Lyla tried to offer him assurance, but inside she was doubtful. A shot to the stomach can be fatal.
