{Skylar's POV}
I saw the man's face drop at my words. I wanted to remember him, remember everyone and everything. I wanted so badly to remember what happened to Marcus and Annabelle.
"I'm sorry." I whimpered. He looked up at me, cheeks damp with fresh tears. "No, no don't apologize. It's okay, it's not your fault." He tried to assure me, but it did little to help. I knew that I knew him, he seemed so familiar. But I have no memory of him or who he is or was to me. Friend, coworker, I didn't know.
"You seem familiar, I just... I just don't know you. I don't know you." I felt this empty feeling at the realization that this man was obviously a big part of my life, and I don't know him. "It's okay, it's alright. Just uhm, what... what do you remember?" I shrugged my shoulders. "Well, I.. I remember running away a few years ago. And then Marcus and I had a baby just under a year ago. She should 11 months old. I need... wait no I can't. But.. wait a minute." My brain hurts, blurs of distant memories surfacing.
"No... no Marcus left. He took Annabelle... coke addiction... I haven't had it in months... He left. She's gone... the box. He left a video.." I spit out everything and anything that my mind could grasp onto long enough. "Hey, hey it's okay. Just calm down." Calm down? "You want me to fucking calm down?! I can't remember shit! I can't even remember what your name is and you told me 10 minutes ago! I can't remember the last time I saw Marcus and Annabelle, I can't remember if I have a job or not or where I work! Don't tell me to fucking calm down!" The doctor rushed in, looking at my vitals.
"You need to take it easy, Ms. Greyson. Keep your heart rate down." The doctor scolded lightly. "I want my memory back." I said irritated. "I can't hand it to you on a silver platter. Your amnesia doesn't seem to be permanent anyway if you remembered something before. Just take it easy, Ms. Greyson." Damn, this doctor did not like his job.
"Okay, Sorry." I grumbled, waiting for him to leave again. He nodded stiffly, making his way out the door. The room fell silent again, making me fidgety. I wanted so badly to remember everything, even if the memories would hurt me all over again. I wanted to know what this man meant to me, what I meant to him.
"Skylar," I turned to see the man now kneeling beside the hospital, reaching out his hand as if he wanted to hold mine. I hesitated before carefully placing my hand in his palm. I felt the hairs on the nape of my neck stand up at the sudden touch. "It's okay not to remember. And I'm sure the doctor's right, it doesn't seem to be permanent. You'll remember eventually okay? Everything's gonna be alright." He assured me. "I wanna know what you meant to me. Because I can feel that you were someone important, maybe even someone I loved I don't know. I-I just... I know I have to mean something to you right? I'm not just some random girl you found at the hospital. Derek Morgan, I want to remember you." He gave me a small smile, a tear spilling onto his damp cheek. "I love you, babygirl."
"Good morning, Babygirl." He repeated, lifting his head from the pillow to face me. "Good morning, Bubba." I said, kissing his cheek. He smiled, digging his head into my shoulder. "It's too early, don't get out of bed yet." He murmured. My hand ran up and now his back, my nails scratching his back gently.
I groaned at the blur of a memory, my head aching. "Bubba?" I whispered out, the blurry image of Derek and I laying in bed, cuddled up in the sheets. Smiles on our faces. "Baby?" I turned to look at him, his smile growing. He seemed thrilled at the term of endearment that fell from my lips.
"Derek I-"
"You don't have to be embarrassed, Victoria. I have my rough patches in life too." He assured me. "I don't know what to fidget with though." I admitted. "Rubik cubes can be fun." I laughed lightly. "Spence I don't know the first thing about solving Rubik cubes." "Well you don't necessarily have to solve it to just be able to fidget, but if you wanted to solve it, it's all about algorithms. I can teach you if you'd like." I smiled at him, "I would appreciate that."
"Spencer... Spence. He— He helped learn how to do rubik cubes, he said it would... help stop the fidgeting!" My brain was starting to pulse, ache making me hold my head. "Memories they keep.... they keep flooding in." I said, sitting up. My head felt heavy, so very heavy.
JJ was the next to speak, "Do you have to carry your gun and badge around?" Matt smirked at the attention he was receiving. "Affirmative." I was about to pee myself from holding in my laughter. "Can we see it?" Emily asked, sipping her drink. "See what?" I swear this man deserves an award for best comedian, it might just be because I'm tipsy on my 3rd drink.
"JJ... and, and Emily. There was another lady there.... she had blonde hair. Her name started with P... I can't I can't remember her name." I struggled, it was on the tip of my tongue. "Penelope." Derek answered. I snapped my fingers at him, "Yes, Penelope!"
Jack ran under the desk, his dad's voice ringing through the house "8.. 9... 10... ready or not here I come." I heard Jack giggle beside me, making me bring a finger to my lips, telling him to be quiet. "Hmm where could they be?" Aaron knew exactly where we were, only acting like he didn't to make the game more fun. I heard his footsteps inch closer and closer. "Boo!" Jack yelped, laughing as his dad lifted him into the air. "Can Sky stay for dinner, daddy?" He begged. Aaron looked towards me raising his eyebrow. I nodded, letting him know I could. "Yeah, she can stay for dinner."
"Hotch..." I breathed out. My head didn't let up on the pounding. And my heart hurt at the thought of forgetting about him. He was the closest thing I've ever had to a real father. And Jack... Jack was an absolute angel.
My words didn't make it out of my mouth, just incoherent screams of agony. I grabbed his face, turning him towards me. "Please!" I begged, I shook him, in hopes that he was asleep. "Don't leave me!" The burning pain in my throat seemed to grow the more I screamed out, but I couldn't stop.
"He's dead." My voice cracked, my heart breaking all over again. "Marcus he's gone. Belle... Belle." My heart cracked in my chest. I almost wish I didn't remember that. That I could live without them in peace. "Almost thought you wouldn't remember me." My head snapped towards the corner of the room. Marcus stood there, leather jacket and all. "You're not real." I said, tired of constantly seeing him, in his perfect state. No harm done to him. I only want to see him if he's real. "I'm as real to you as anything else in this room, Sky Baby."
I shook my head. "What's going on, Skylar?" I turned to Derek, a clear look of confusion on his face. "Tell him Sky, I'm here aren't I? You see me. You can hear me. You can feel me." I felt Marcus' hand press against my cheek, in the gentle manner he always did. "Marcus is here." I whispered. Derek looked around, looking right past Marcus. "Skylar.."
"Don't, I know... I know you can't see him. But I can, I hear him and feel him too." Derek looked at me, looking for words to say. "It's very common when people are grieving to see their loved ones and—" I shook my head, cutting him off. "You know for knowing people and being able to read them, you're shit at knowing what to say." I murmured.
I turned to look at Marcus, but he was staring at Derek. "He looks at you the way I do." Marcus didn't seem mad or jealous like he usually would, he had an unreadable expression on his face. And all of a sudden he shook his head, and walked away, through the door. And soon faded into nothing.
"I'm sorry, I just I know you don't like it when I profile you so I'm just trying to guess what will make you feel better." I looked back at Derek, my heart beat picking up just the slightest bit. He looked up at me, and I saw a familiar twinkle, one that I had only seen once before. And that was in Marcus' eyes when he looked at me.
