chapter 6- secret date

Today is the day I get to go on a date with THEE Sodapop Curtis. Every girls dream is to go out with him once and he's the one that asked me. Steve's working a shift tonight and Dally told everyone I was hanging out with him. Soda said he was gonna meet up with an old buddy from school. Everyone believed it except Johnny. So now Johnny knows we're going out too.

"Dallas Tucker Winston get your ass in here right now!" I yelled. "What man?" he asked walking into my room. "Johnny doesn't know what I should wear and you're a guy who goes on dates a lot so you gotta help me," I said. "Fine what are your options?" Dally asked. "I have this blue floral dress, this skirt with a black shirt and leather jacket, or this pink dress," I said. "the dresses aren't you wear the jacket and skirt," He said. "Thanks Dal, go out while I change," I said shooing them out.

I quickly changed and pulled on my doc martens. My hair was curled and I had very light makeup on. I walked downstairs and Dally and Johnny both looked up at me. "Woah," Johnny said. "what? I wear things like this all the time," I said. "Yeah but you don't wear makeup," Dally said. "Shut up," I said. "You look great," Dally said. "Yeah why is that?" Steve asked and we all turned around. "Because I wanted to try and look good?" I said sarcastically.

"Mhm ok, I'm leaving for my shift be safe," He said and walked outside. We all sighed in relief. "That was close," Johnny said. "Way to close," I said. "When is Sodapop coming?" Johnny asked. "Should be here in like 5-10 minutes," I said sitting in between them. "If he pulls anything I'll kill him," Dally said. "I know you will," I said laughing. "Remember what the plan is," I said. "Yeah yeah I'll drive behind ya so I can be at the same place incase Steve shows up somehow," Dally said. "Good," I said.

"I still think it's stupid that Dal even has to do that," Johnny said. "It ain't my fault my brother is overprotective," I said. "Whatever I can try to distract him," Johnny said. "Good idea Steve wont say no to you," Dally said. Johnny just shrugged, the only ones that were mean to Johnny was me Dal and Pony. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. I stood up and walked over to open it.

"You look beautiful," Soda said as I greeted his big blue eyes and movie star smile. "Thanks, not to bad yourself," I said. "Gross," Dally said. "Ready to go?" Sodapop asked and I nodded. "Cya there ladies," Dal said getting in his car. Soda opened my door for me and I climbed inside. "Where are we goin?" I asked. "You'll see when we get there," he said smiling and I just laughed and nodded.

We drove for about 10 minutes until we arrived at an arcade we went to when we were little. I smiled and looked at him. "I LOVED THIS PLACE," I yelled happily. "I know you did," He said and took my hand leading me inside. We walked inside and got bowling shoes and found a table. We changed into our shoes and went to put our names down.

"Well if Steve comes we can't have your name on there so what should we put?" I asked. "Uh, hot stuff," Soda said. "No," I said. "it was worth a shot," he said and I laughed. "Just put D that could stand for Dally," I said. "Hey that's my dates name,"Some random girl said. "Dally brought a date here didn't he," Soda said. "Of course he did," I said and we laughed and saw Dally walking over. "Dallas you were supposed to be here to help us," I joked. "Hey I didn't wanna get bored," He said. "Yeah yeah whatever," I said and walked back over to soda. I got a red ball and Soda got a blue one.

We played two games and we each won once. We decided to go around and play some of the arcade games. We played for awhile until we had a ton of tickets. Suddenly Dally walked over. "Soda hide Steve's here," Dally said and Soda ran to hide. "Why is he here? Johnny said he would distract him and none of us have been here in years," I said. "I don't know man why are ya askin' me?" Dally said. I just rolled my eyes and acted natural.

Steve soon walked over. "Oh hey guys didn't know you were here," Steve said. "Yup," I said crossing my arms. "why are you here?" I asked. "Oh I was supposed to meet Evie here but maybe she couldn't make it," he said looking around. "Well we haven't seen her, have a nice day byeeee," I said and shoved him out the door. I walked over to where Soda was hiding and said "He's gone," "Ok," Soda said and took my hand I held out.

"Let's go get something with the tickets," I said laughing and he nodded. "ok you have 1,000 tickets what do you want?" The lady asked. "uh I want those glasses and the dolphin," Soda said. We got a few candys and walked out. He handed me the dolphins and put the giant glasses on my face. "How do I look?" I joked. "Marvelous madam," He joked bowing. We got to the car after telling Dally we were leaving. He drove us to a little forest and we put our feet in the river as we watched the sunset. He grabbed my hand and intertwined his fingers in mine. I smiled and laid my head on his shoulder.

"so beautiful," I said. "I know i'm pretty great," Soda joked. "The sunset dummy, but I guess you're ok," I said and he held his hand on his heart as if he was hurt. "Thank you for a wonderful night," I whispered. "No thank you for coming," He said and I just smiled. After the sunset completely he took me home and walked me to the porch. "Goodnight Sodapop," I said and kissed his cheek and walked inside.
