Oscar and Morris almost shoved Jack down the stairs. "He said to handle you how we we fit, so behave." Said Morris
"But just in case, I've been polishing my favorite brass knuckles." Said Oscar
"You're pretty sick, you know that, Oscar?" Jack asked
     "What did you just say?"
"Lindsay didn't want to do what got her pregnant. I know dang well what happened. Kid's still alive, by the way." He explained
"Too bad it is. I ain't taking responsibility for it." He said, "And hey! You can sleep on one of them printing presses. They're firm." They left

"Newsies of New York City, welcome to my theater and your revolution!" Said Medda Larkin
"Let's hear it for Spot Conlon and Brooklyn!" Said Davey
"Newsies united! Let's see what Pulitzer has to say to you now." Said Spot
"Hey, Davey, where's Jack?" Finch asked
People started shouting that they wanted Jack. "Sorry, kid. No sign of him. Looks like you're doing a solo." Said Medda
     "Jack! Jack! Jack!" Newsies shouted
"Newsies of New York... look at what we've done!" Said Davey, "We've got newsies from every pape and neighborhood tonight. Tonight we're making history! Tonight we declare we're just as much as part a paper as any reporter or editor! We're done being treated like kids! From now on, they treat us as equals!"
"You wanna be talked to like an adult? Start acting like one. Don't just run your mouth, make some sense."Jack finally showed up
     "And here's Jack!" Twitch said
Everyone started cheering. "All right! Pulitzer raised the price of papes without so much as a word to us. That was a lousy thing to do. So we got mad, and we let 'em know we ain't going to be pushed around."
Everyone cheered at that. He continued, "So we go on strike. Then what happens? He'll lower the price so we go back, then he'll raise it up again. What then? Fellas, we gotta be realistic! We don't work, we don't get paid. We don't get paid, we don't eat! How long can we last without making money! Believe me, Pulitzer can go longer!"
Everyone started booing him. "I have spoken with Mr. Pulitzer, and he gave me his word: if we disband the union, he won't put prices up for two years! He'll even put it in writing!"
Everyone got crazy. The boos drowned out Jack's voice. Spot pushed him. "Jack, you traitor!"
One of Pulitzer's workers gave Jack a large wad of cash, then he ran off. "How could you do this!"
"You better not see me at night!"
Twitch followed him. She was a little bit faster, and she made it to the roof first.
