"That mask...just what was it?"

A few hours had passed since the incident. Luckily you both were able to find a building that had access to the inside.
There was a baggage that contained food items. Hunger had taken over you at some point so you and Yuri ate up, but not all of it, knowing that later on food might be important.

"So let me get this right, there's a mask that supposedly controls you once you put it on and their job is to kill those who don't have the mask correct?"
That was Yuri's question, with food stuffed in her mouth.
You thought about it and yes the possibilities of that were most likely right. It made perfect sense.
"I suppose that is, but that woman back there. She said something about suicide, she was like fine I'll do it I'll commit suicide something like that. Are the motives of the masked people maybe to make the unmasked kill themselves?"
Yuri shrugged.
It was too much information to take in at the moment.
"Hey but when we removed the mask from that mans face, he wasn't being aggressive anymore?. Maybe...having it on is what controls them as he said"
"Yeah maybe. Let's worry about that later. It's getting dark. We should find some where safe to stay and maybe tomorrow morning we can search for allies"
You agreed and you searched for a place to stay, more preferred a room. After killing the man back there you both had gone into the building where you and her agreed to meet up.
A lot of rooms were unfortunately locked.
It was a while of searching.
"Don't keep your guard down. There could be a masked person roaming this building"
Yuri nodded and you both were cautious.
You were starting to believe that all rooms were locked, but then a handle turned completely and you smiled.
"Yuri, I found a room. Let's stay in here"
The room smelled like fresh sheets considering this whole building was empty.
The air was fresh and the room looked clean. It was perfect for a stay. The bathroom had a bathtub with shampoo bottles.
You smiled at the thought of a shower. Hygiene was most important to you and you already felt sticky.
"I'm gonna shower okay? If anything happens or anyone tries to break in then yell at me. I'll be quick though"
She looked comforted and nodded. She jumped into the bed getting comfortable.
You hopped into the shower and relaxed. The dry blood on your legs was gross. The shampoo wasn't all great but it did smell decent.
You let the warm water hit your skin for a while and you almost felt sleepy from how good it felt.
Didn't want to get too distracted. You were in a building with masked people lurking in.
A few minutes in you were just nearly finished with your shower when you heard a loud bang.
More like a shot.
You're heart started to race and you quickly turned off the water, sprinting out the bathroom.
You opened the door and saw Yuri laying on the floor behind the bed, shaking.
"D-did you hear that? There was a shot outside. Does someone know were here"
You quickly changed and told her to stay on the lookout for the door.
Afterwards you both quickly grabbed your weapons, ready for any threat to come through.
"Come. Let's hide in the bathroom"
you told Yuri.
Walking in, you shut the door and locked it.
There was complete silence for a few minutes. You were starting to doubt that someone was even there but suddenly there was huge bang on your door.
Not just a bang, but a shot to the doorknob because you heard it fall to the floor.
Shit.
You both loaded your guns prepared to fight either someone psycho or a masked person.
Silence took over. Slow footsteps were walking outside the room. They were searching.
"I'll point the gun. You be ready to hit them in the face with yours okay?"
you whispered to her. She bummed in response.
The footsteps stopped in front of the bathroom door. Well that was it.
Boom.
Another shot to the doorknob.
The door slid open and there they were.
A tall masked man in a suit and a hat. And he had a big sniper in his hands ready to shoot.
"Go Yuri!"
She charged at him and gave him a hard hit to the mask with the end of her gun, leaving a crack.
You both ran and charged to the open door and he fired a shot just nearly getting your leg.
He was dangerous and had good aim.
Dealing with a sniper mask was gonna be very difficult.
