It was a cloudy day in the Olympic Peninsula. Alice had informed us that there would be a thunderstorm today which meant that the family would be playing baseball. Since Bella had been introduced to the family, Edward invited her to the family baseball game.
Before they arrived, I made sure to cast my personal speed and strength-enhancing spells. "Incrementum Velocitas" was the spell I created when I was Horcrux hunting with the Golden Trio during the war. "Amplifico Vis" was the first spell I ever created. Uncle Snape taught me how to make my own spells when I was 8.
The baseball field was twice the size of a normal baseball stadium. Alice and Logan were in the center of the field, stretching. Rosalie, Emmett, Esme, and Carlisle were sitting on a flat rock at the edge of the tree line. Jasper was showing me his bat tricks, trying to impress me. I was safe to say, he did indeed impress me.
We were waiting for Edward and Bella when we heard a strangled laugh coming from the woods. It sounded like a bear choking. Knowing it was Edward, I made a joke.
"I hope that bear is okay," I joked, feigning innocence. They all laughed. Edward and Bella passed through the trees, finally arriving.
"Was that you we heard, Edward?" Esme asked
"It sounded like a bear choking," Emmett clarified
"That was him," Bella confirmed, smiling hesitantly
"Bella was being unintentionally funny," Edward defended
Esme walked over to Bella, pulling her along with her, "Good thing you're here. We need an umpire."
"She thinks we cheat," Emmett grinned
"We all know you cheat, polar bear," I teased
"And you don't, bear cub?" He taunted. I scoffed.
Esme smiled at our banter and turned to Bella, "Call them as you see them, Bella."
Alice stood at the Pitcher's mound, "It's time," she announced as thunder sounded from the distance.
Alice's team stood in the outfield, ready for the game to begin. Her team consisted of Emmett, Logan, Edward, and herself.
Team Carlisle consisted of me, Jasper, Rose, and of course, Carlisle. We stood ready to bat.
Alice lifts her leg, pitching the ball at lightning speed. Rosalie smashes the ball with the aluminum bat and takes off running. It cracks like thunder, mixing with the sound of the actual thunder.
Bella turns to Esme, "Now I see why you need the thunder." The ball soars deep into the forest, disappearing through the trees. Edward races off to catch it. "That has to be a home run," Bella says, underestimating her lover.
"Edward's very fast," Esme praised her favorite son
Rosalie passed each base, blurring around the field. Edward catches the ball and launches it back toward the home plate. Esme caught the ball a millisecond before Rosalie slid in.
"You're out?" Bella states, unsure. Esme nods.
"Out, woo!" Emmett shouts excitedly, competitiveness shining through. Rosalie glares at Emmett, "Come on, it's just a game," Emmett states.
Rosalie walks off, glaring at Bella and bumping her shoulder as she passes.
"Nice kitty," Carlisle smiles at Rosalie, walking up to bat.
Carlisle readies his stance before Alice pitches the ball. Carlisle strikes it with the bat, perfectly hitting it. He flashes off toward first base. Emmett and Edward race to catch the ball, diving 15 feet into the air and colliding with each other, resulting in Carlisle getting a home run.
