Y/N set Ariel down in his chair on the upper floor of the Sanctum Sanctorum. She quietly thanked, then played idly with her jacket's sleeve and caught her breath. Y/N and Gwen sat down and slowly absorbed what just happened.

Gwen: I can't believe it. I go out after band practice, and I see two mind boggling things go down! One can do magic, and mermaids exist!

Ariel explained to them that her family were mermaids that could walk on land as well as live in the water. Their human forms, however, weren't really permanent. Anytime they're in any kind of water, they would revert back to their mermaid form.

Which is why her mind raced. T-There's no w-way....I was on concrete. And, changing back doesn't hurt.

Y/N looked up when he sensed Strange and Wong approaching the room. His main teacher looked at him, disappointed.

Doctor Strange: You used a portal. You better have a good reason.

Wong: Did you remember to bring- Whoa. I think that's a good enough reason.

He meant the ruby-haired mermaid currently sitting in Y/N's chair; the chips could wait another time.

Wong: What happened? Are you a....

Y/N: I-I'm not sure what's going on. So, Master Strange, Master Wong, meet Gwen, and Ariel. I met them while at the deli.

The two meekly waved to the sorcerers. Clearly, they were out of place. Their curiosity only grew while Y/N recounted events to his "teachers."

Doctor Strange: Explain what happened.

Y/N: We have lunch, walk down the street, then something happens to Ariel, and, well, now you see....Look, I'm sorry I brought them here, b-but, we couldn't take her anywhere else as such. I-I don't know any illusion spells! I panicked!

Doctor Strange decided to let this slide. Given the circumstances, Y/N did the right thing. He looked towards the mermaid sat in his student's seat.

Doctor Strange: Ariel, was it? No doubt you use magic to walk on land. I can maybe find out what went wrong, but it involves a lock of your hair.

Ariel was, of course, hesitant. But, she had to know what happened. Strange grabbed one stray strand and quickly yanked, a squeak escaping her lips. Ariel's hand jumped and latched onto Y/N's. He didn't think much of it, but his heart jumped from the sudden contact.

Strange took the strand of hair, ran it between his thumb and pointer fingers, and casted Eldritch magic over it. The normal orange glow became tainted with streams of black and purple.

Doctor Strange: Oh boy.

Wong: Is that who I think it is? Why is she here?

Y/N: What? What happened?

Strange turned back, showing them the spell.

Gwen: That, is that supposed to happen?

Wong: I'm afraid not.

Doctor Strange: Unless you crossed the wrong person. Y/N, this may involve a friend, but, don't. You're still not ready. Ariel, good news is what happened isn't your fault; you had complete control. However, your magic was taken from you by someone else, quite a chunk of it. Your human form could now be harder to hold.
