Six Years Later.
Breanna's POV.I brushed her long blonde hair and then twisted it into two pigtails and tied them with red bows.
"Where am I going, mommy?" A now six year old Laura asked me.
"Uncle Eli is going to bring you to school. Like we talked about, remember?" I asked, turning her around to face me.
"Why can't you bring me?" She asked.
"Mommy and daddy have to stay here and take care of the hotel," I explained.
"I'll miss you," she said and hugged me. I hugged her back.
"I'll miss you too," I said, tears swelling up in my eyes.
James and Ethan came into the room, hand in hand. Ethan ran to me and hugged me too.
"Hi buddy. You ready for school?" I asked him.
"Yeah! Daddy taught me how to defend myself!" He said excitedly.
I looked up at James. He shook his head in denial.
"What did he teach you?" I asked.
"He taught me to take a pencil and shove it into somebody's neck-" he began.
"Daddy taught me that too!" Laura squealed.
"Did he now?" I asked, looking up at James again.
James looked at the clock on the wall. "We best be going!" He said and took the children's hands.
"Kids, don't ever stick your pencils in anyone's necks," I said as we started walking down the hallway.
"You're no fun," James said.
When we finally reached the lobby, Eli and Sally were already waiting there. Liz and Tristan were sitting on the couch, waiting to give our kids a present.
Laura and Ethan ran to all of them, greeting them with kisses and hugs. We watched as their faces lit up when they received their purple and red backpacks from Liz and Tristan.
Laura had an obsession with the color red. Her bows had to be red, her clothes had to be red, her room had to be red, everything was red. Ethan likes the color purple because his father likes the color purple.
After receiving their gifts, they ran over to us to give us their last goodbyes before school. Then, they took their Uncle Eli's hand and walked out the doors.
I took James's hand. "They're growing up so fast," I said under my breath.
He looked at me and kissed my head. I could tell he was just as, if not more, emotional than me. He wasn't talking.
We sat down on the couch and turned the new television we had on.
"You guys know that you don't have to wait here for them," Sally said.
"We plan to the first day. Then... maybe... we won't do it ever again," I said.
"Aw. That's so sweet," Liz said, kissing my head.
