The truck pulled into Matt's driveway.
"Jim's car is here but he's probably napping like he always does," Matt said.
"It'll be ok, just get the kids and come back out here," Mike said.
Matt got down from the truck and went inside.
"Twelve hours, twelve fucking hours Sky," Layne exclaimed.
"We'll spend a night at a motel, don't get so worked up about it Layne," I said.
"How can all of us fit into one motel room?"
"Me, Matt, Maggie and the kids can sleep in a room and the rest of y'all can sleep in another, I can afford two rooms next to each other."
"That'll work Sky."
After a few seconds of silence, I sighed.
"Can't believe we're actually doing this."
"It's the right thing to do, it's the only way to actually leave this town, to do it right now, we're doing the right thing," Mike said.
"This is your idea anyway Sky, your idea to go to Portland," Tony said.
"When Matt talked about Portland I thought of my dad."
"We'll be living with him right, when we get there?" Maggie asked.
"Yeah...but what if Mom's right, what if he hung himself or slit his wrists?"
"He's still alive Sky, I'm very very sure," Layne said.
Soon, Matt and his little siblings walked out with their things.
"Hi Tim, hi Kim," I said.
"Hi Sky," Tim said.
Kim just waved.
"Mom is out and Jim was sleeping," Matt said.
"Where are we going?" Kim asked.
"To Portland."
"Where is that?"
"North of here."
"Where's north?"
Matt chuckled.
"I'll show you when we get to a motel."
We were off.
