Chapter 21: Drop the Bomb Part 2

Lloyd and Nelson rode in the back of Ray's truck as they raced to the hospital in a panic.

It wasn't just them. Nya's grandparents, Garmadon, Cole, Jay, Zane, and Nya's friends all raced there in a hurry.

Inside the Hospital, Miskao happily hugged her husband and son while Nya ran into her father's arms and engulfed her little brother in a hug. Morrow and Cole shared a bro hug while a nurse was yelling at Morrow that he needed to stay in his hospital room because of his broken rib.

Lloyd, however, could only hug his mother loosely before walking over to the receptionist. "I need the room number for Kai Smith." He said with solen face and she nodded, giving him the number.

The force of the blast was strong.

Mosako and Nya were only hit with a few pieces of shrapinal because the guys took most of the blast. Morrow was thrown into the bars of the cells hard enough to break an already cracked rib and give him a small concussion. Ronin, who was closer, had severe burns and needed some shrapinal to be surgically removed.

As for Kai? He was the closest.

Lloyd came to his door and stood there. The world around him was tuned out. He couldn't hear his parents calling to him or Kai's family running over. All he heard was nothing as he opened the door and looked inside the room.

Kai lay on the hospital bed. His eyes were closed and there were several IVs. He had a breathing aparatis of some sort and was covered in so many stitches that he looked like frankinstine's monster. Lloyd sucked in a breath and went to hold Kai's hand as he sat on the edge of the bed.

The young prince didn't tune back into reality until he could hear the doctor talking to his dad and Ray about Kai's condition.

"Several stitches.... Sever burns.... Concussion.... Coma.... My not wake up.... Possible memory loss.... Nerve damage...."

Lloyd only heard bits and pieces, but it was enough to make him break down and start crying as he looked at Kai's sleeping face.

Lloyd only cried harder and harder until he started into a breakdown and needed to be dragged out by his father because they needed to prep Kai for surgery to tent to some issues Lloyd paid no mind to, but he kicked and screamed as Garmadon dragged him away and needed Cole to come help him restrain his son.

Everyone else was silent as they saw Kai being wheeled off.

Zane had thrown on a medical coat and followed the nurses. He was intent on helping with the surgery.

No one knew what was going to happen, but Kai was lucky to be breathing still.

It had been a couple days since the incident and Kai still hadn't waken up.

Nya was staying in the Garmadon mansion for safety reasons and Lloyd was quiet.

He'd get up, go to school, go to the hospital until visiting hours were up, then come home. Rinse and repeat. He was like a robot in routine, but carried himself as a zombie. No pranks, no jokes, no trouble. Even the teachers that usually hated his roudy ways would rather go back to that then what he was now.

He couldn't even smile anymore.

All he did when not sleeping or in school was sit by Kai's side in the hospital room. He waited and hopped for Kai to wake up.

On Friday & Saturday nights, when there was no school the next day, the hospital staff would let him spend the night so he didn't have to leave Kai.

No one dared try to talk to him. Lloyd wouldn't listen. He was in his own world and it was a miserable one as he waited for the day Kai would wake. A day that, according to the doctor, had a slim chance of coming.

Lloyd would cry himself to sleep on the nights the nurses sent him home. Some nights he didn't go home. He'd go to Kai's apartment instead and slept in his bed. Garmadon didn't mind though. He knew how much his son was hurting and explained everything to his wife. Misako wanted desperately to help her son, but she didn't know how. It was obvious to both that Kai was it for their son and so they hopped Kai would wake as well.

A month.

Lloyd was now refusing to go to school, much less leave Kai's side. Everyone tried to tell him that Kai may never wake up and to move on since Kai would want him happy, but he insisted that Kai was going to wake up and that he was going to be there when he did.

Lloyd had even gone as far as to chain himself to Kai's bed with a pair of his handcuffs. He was serious about not moving and it was scaring his parents, but he didn't care. All he cared about was Kai.

They'd eventually given up and let Lloyd have his way on the grounds that Lloyd at least tried to start eating again since the teen had gone on a hunger strike.

It had now been two months since the bomb.

Lloyd was curled up beside Kai on the hospital bed, letting his head lay against Kai's chest, when he heard a groan. The sound made him snap his head to Kai's face, watching has Kai's nose twitched and his eyelids moved.

The blond sucked in a breath as he waited to see what would happen next.

When Kai's eye's opened to reveal brown orbs staring into Lloyd's green, the prince grinned and kissed his lover passionately.

Kai, however, did not kiss back.

When Lloyd looked to Kai after words, the cop looked confused. "Who are you?"

Lloyd's heart stopped and hit the floor.
