Chanhee sulked all the way to the meeting place. Hyunjae glanced at him and rolled his eyes, focusing on the road. Hyunjae was going to make sure Chanhee got to the date.
"I still don't understand how dating is going to help me relax." Chanhee whined.
"We didn't say that. Just meet someone new. Trust me it helps with whatever's wrong in your life."
"And just what is wrong with my life?" Chanhee snapped.
"Ok, let me list them." Hyunjae said, changing lanes expertly. With a grin, he started.
"You're grumpy and snappy. You hate going outside unless Jacob or I drag you. You always hide in your den that is your workroom. Speaking of work, you always spend time writing and thinking up how to kill off people."
"You make it sound like I actually killed them." Chanhee huffed.
Hyunjae gave him a brief look then turned back to the road.
"Killing off your characters means killing off a part of your reader's soul. Don't you know how attached people are to book characters? I mean, just ask the ones reading this right now."
Chanhee glared and punched him in the arm.
"Of course, I know. I'm a writer. I get attached to my characters too. But that is just how the plot goes. I can't control it."
"That's also why you get writer blocks. Thinking of work the whole time. You need breaks in between to actually come up with something."
Hyunjae finally pulled up outside a restaurant. Chanhee stared at the shop with a pout. Hyunjae gave him an apathetic look and pressed a button to open the door on Chanhee's side.
"Get off before I kick you out."
Chanhee muttered a few curses before getting off the car. Right after Chanhee closed the door behind him, Hyunjae drove off.
Chanhee trudged up the steps, entering the restaurant reluctantly. The host smiled at him and asked him politely if he had a reservation.
"Jacob Bae." He answered.
"Ah, yes. Your friend is already waiting for you. Please follow me."
The host escorted him inside. Chanhee followed the man unwillingly. His mind was taking in the restaurant setting. Wherever he was, his mind kept making up scenarios for his book.
Ok, maybe Hyunjae's right. I do need to stop thinking about work, Chanhee thought.
"Here we are, sir." The host spoke.
Chanhee looked at the man who was already sitting at the table. He had his back to him. Chanhee thanked the host and walked up to him.
He stood beside the table and the man looked up at him. A look of realization dawned upon the man's eyes and he stood up to greet Chanhee.
"Hi. You must be Jacob's friend, Chanhee-ssi?"
"Yes. And you must be..."
"Kevin, Kevin Moon."
He flashed a charming smile. Chanhee returned one back politely. They sat down and the waiter gave them the menu.
Chanhee's mind, once again, went towards his works. Kevin's smile just made him think how traumatizing it would be if a murdered killed with a smile. A kind one, at that.
"Chanhee-ssi? Are you ready to order?" Kevin's voice pulled him back to reality.
"Oh. Yeah. Um, I'll take the steak with apple sauce." Chanhee said.
