Jacob was driving Chanhee back to his apartment. They had a comfortable silence between them. It was always like that.
Just a few minutes away from arriving, Jacob glanced at Chanhee. He was conflicted. He wasn't sure what happened at all during the past few days. He wasn't sure if he was worried for Chanhee and for himself.
"Everything's going well at home?" He started lightly.
Chanhee hummed. He turned away from the window to face Jacob with a smile. Jacob was already turned back, eyes on the road.
"I think so..." Chanhee trailed off, thinking of what he and Juyeon talked about this morning.
"You think so? Chanhee, is there anything I can help?" Jacob figured he would take an indirect way to ask him.
Chanhee sighed deeply. Why is it that he was having so much suspicions about his own boyfriend?
"There's this thing I've been thinking about. I'm not sure about it at all and part of me is hoping it's not true."
"Sounds serious."
"I just don't want to be making a big issue out of nothing, you know."
Jacob stayed silent. He guessed Chanhee had his own suspicions about Kevin as well. He didn't know from what but since they were living together, he would've seen the signs.
Kevin had warned Jacob to stay quiet. Frankly, Jacob was terrified. He was terrified for two reasons.
One, he didn't know what Kevin was capable of. He had seen the murder cases and all but he couldn't picture Kevin committing those hideous crimes.
Two, Jacob's damn heart was still beating for Kevin. He was torn apart between protecting his crush or himself. Jacob knows very well that Kevin wouldn't bat an eye to clear Jacob out of his way. If he attempted to tell Chanhee about this, then he could be dead before anything else.
But then, Chanhee deserved to know. More than that, Jacob was curious about his reaction. How would Chanhee react to his boyfriend for 3 years being a murderer?
Would he still love Kevin just like Jacob did? Or would he turn away from Kevin due to his crimes?
A smirk etched on Jacob's lips as he thought about the last question. If that was Chanhee's reaction, then he could prove to Kevin.
Prove that only he truly loved him and not Chanhee.
"Thanks, Jacob." Chanhee's voice rang.
They were already at the apartment. Jacob smiled at him as Chanhee unbuckled his belt. He sat there for a while.
"Jacob, I need to discuss something with you but not yet. I need to be sure of a few things first. So, when I'm ready, can you talk with me?" Chanhee asked, looking at Jacob.
"You can always count on me."
Jacob had a feeling he was talking about Kevin. The hesitancy in Chanhee's voice made him curious. He nodded. Chanhee smiled back. Then, both of them heard a knock.
Kevin was standing by the car as he bent down to peek into the window. Chanhee got down the car and greeted him.
"Hey, mochi. Hey, Jacob." Kevin greeted inside the car.
"Hey." Jacob kept it short.
Kevin gave him a mysterious look accompanied with his usual charming smile. Jacob felt goosebumps up to his arms and shoulders as he avoided eye contact.
As he drove away, he could see Kevin through the rearview mirror, staring at him. He gulped dryly.
Kevin turned back to Chanhee with a smile and patted his head. They walked into their apartment, hands around each other. Any passerby would think they were a very happy and loving couple.
