Chapter 16
Beckett
I hate shopping. I feel like an idiot wandering around here in this fancy ass store to buy a stupid ass suit. I refused to do this alone, so with Brynn and Aubrey with me, I'm suffering through the ordeal. I swear they have me running me back and forth to try on shit. Pants, shirts, ties and jackets.
I've been in everything from pale blue to black. But typical of women, they can't make up their minds. I should have gotten Ethan to join me or Cade. I'd have been outta here in less than twenty minutes. Now if Georgia had come she'd have me buying the whole damn store.
But I thought Aubrey was my best bet. Then Brynn wanted to come too. I should have said no but I didn't think it through. I feel like a damn doll playing dress up for them. They're getting the biggest kick out of watching me get sized.
I've never been so uncomfortable in my life. Standing here on this footstool in front of this big ass mirror, frowning as this dude kneels in front me with his little tape measure. The top of his head is right at my waist. I swear he's trying to manhandle me. He claims he just needs my measurements but I'm pretty sure my dick isn't getting suited up too.
"He has to measure the inseam, Beckett." Brynn says as if this is common knowledge. "You don't want the pants the wrong length."
"He touched my balls, Brynn! Not okay with me." It was too damn close for comfort. Even if I did try to suck my balls in. "The only one who has that permission is..."
I stopped mid sentence, seeing Brynn tilt her head and raise her eyebrows, laughter in her eyes. My gaze slid to Aubrey and saw her face flame red. Suddenly her eyes met mine and she literally ducked behind a display of shirts.
"And just who gets that honor? You didn't finish that statement." Brynn looks over and sees Aubrey walk behind a rack of pants.
Oh, she gets to hide but not me! I'm on the damn stool where everyone can see what's happened. It's not like we're being quiet so everyone in the store knows that I was groped.
It's not like I have a problem with guy's interested in other guys or women who are into women. It's just not my thing. And I only want one person in particular to touch me. Sliding my eyes away from Brynn, I frown at the floor only to avoid all the eyes in the store who are watching me.
"Not him!" I grumble softly, knowing I just embarrassed Aubrey.
I hear Brynn giggle as she walks away to look at ties. The smile remained on her face as she held up one tie after another. Pink, blue, striped and polka dots. None are my taste. If I look like an idiot at this stupid party, I'm gonna be pissed.
I don't know why I have to wear a damn suit and tie. I always feel ridiculous in these monkey suits. I'm glad I work in an industry that doesn't require it. Who would want a career where you have to dress like this every day? Shouldn't you be comfortable in what you wear every day?
Give me a plain white t-shirt and jeans any day.
Whoever created the tie had to have a vendetta against men and just wanted to choke the entire male species. It's the only explanation for it. Someone pissed with men had to have said "Hey, let's just tie this around those rat bastards neck and hang the fuckers!"
I only came today because I had to. If I went against Georgia's wishes, she'd have had my ass in a sling. No, thank you. I've seen braver men go down for less with the woman. But more than being afraid, if only slightly, of her, I respect her. I know what she's been through and Georgia has gone through it all with her head held high.
