Rory giggled and opened one eye to look at him as they slowly ended their kiss. "You mean it?"

"I do and I'm not saying it again."

"Please?" She pouted. "For the last time ever?"

"No."

She nodded and accepted the fact that most likely, unless one of them was dying, she would never hear those words from him again. "Will you be able to ride?" The change of topic was welcome but Happy didn't regret saying it. He could see how the words affected her. At the docks he had the fleeting thought of dying without telling her and that bothered him deeply. It was time it had to be said so he did it. That was just how Happy operated.

"Not right away." He said, looking at his hand. "Maybe in a week, I just gotta use the good fingers while these heal."

"That sounds fun, the good fingers," she giggled. "They didn't break your dick did they?"

"Why don't you find out?" He raised his hips, grimacing slightly at the pain from his ribs and kidneys.

Rolling her eyes Rory slipped off the mattress and sat in the visitor's chair. She popped off her heels and crossed her ankles on his bed. The way her skirt rode up her thighs was drawing Happy's attention but as she began to speak, his eyes locked with hers.

"Are you really mad?"

"Yeah, but I think you're fucking amazing too, my badass little girl, but don't do it again."

"I do what I want." She said staunchly.

As much as they were both kidding, they truly meant their words. Rory was about to continue when Clay, Tig and Jax entered without as much as a knock. Happy perked up as they greeted him with foul insults and an array of colorful language. He was overjoyed to see them but Rory not so much.

"I'll let you guys talk."

"Putlova is handled." Clay said without even a glance at Rory as she stood up. "He won't come after you or your old lady."

Rory stopped by the door and smiled to herself. "Thank you for cleaning that up. I know it was a dangerous call but it was worth it."

"You did a good job." Tig said, opening the door for her. "Thanks for your help." He whispered, seeing her disappointment, as she strolled out into the hallway.

"She pulled a fucking gun on him?" Happy asked in hopes of getting some more details on the whole situation. "What caused the family feud?"

"Kid was a punk; he wanted to take over Daddy's empire before his time." Clay sat in Rory's chair as Jax spoke. "We talked it out. He's cool with what she did but she has to steer clear of him, all of them, for now."

Happy rolled his jaw and nodded. "I'll talk to her."

"The guys who had you are dead, the son is being handled." Clay added.

"What's to stop him from coming back at us if we killed his little plan? If he's breathing, he's a threat." Happy didn't trust that Putlova Jr. would actually listen to anyone but the business end of a gun.

"We gotta trust the Russians." Clay said coolly.

"And keep your eyes open," Jax said staunchly. "You see anything; you think that fucker is coming back. Kill him."

"I'd love to." Happy beamed. "Thanks Clay." He shook his president's hand as Clay and Jax stepped out of the room. "She did alright?"

"She did great." Tig assured him. "Stabbed that fucker in the ankle when he tried to shoot her too, it was fucking beautiful. Watch yourself, you break her heart I think she'll kill ya."

"Don't doubt that." Happy laughed.

--

"Whatever your job was, you end it." Clay snapped, inches from Rory's nose. "If any of those guys see you I don't trust they won't blow a hole in that pretty head." The smirk on his face made her stomach churn. Clay was trying to drive his point home and he was going a wonderful job.

She nodded. "Yeah. I'm going to meet with Vivica as soon as I can, give her the money back, tell her I'm out."

"Good girl. You'll keep an eye on him?"

"Totally." That was never a question. "I'll stay with him till he's back on his feet."

"I don't see it." Clay said dismissively as he and Jax turned away from Rory. "How'd she turn Hap?"

Jax laughed and shrugged, it was always strange when I knew woman came into the mix. He could see the change worried Clay, even though it had not affected Happy's club work. "I don't know. Just be thankful, it could be worse."

--

Happy was discharged not long after the guys left, he was just a matter of patching him up really and they all knew he wouldn't be there long. She watched him walk up the path to his home, his clothes bloody and torn, fighting the urge to help him although he looked more than capable.

"We should talk."

She stopped, the words were ominous and never something she'd ever imagine coming out of his mouth. "Okay."

"I know you like to be a stubborn little bitch but with this Russian shit you have to let it go. I mean it, Rory, this shit could blow back on the club."

"Oh," she was finally able to breathe again. "Yeah, I had no plans to go on some revenge bender. I'm good. I'm just happy you're back. That was my only goal. I'm done with that shit."

He reached out to her and Rory was by his side in a second. They stood in the dining room, Happy's arms around her, holding each other. "I meant what I said."

"I know." She looked up at him through her long eyelashes. "I meant it too."

Happy nodded and gave her a playful shove toward the steps. "Sleep."

"I should find you a dentist." She mused climbing the steps slowly, the exhaustion finally settling in. "I'm sorry but I won't date a toothless man. I'm assuming you'll be getting gold replacements?"

"Fuck yeah." He growled, showing her his teeth again. "I'll be like a fucking pirate."

Rory turned at the top of the steps and smiled at his childlike excitement over gold teeth. "Clay called me your old lady."

"And?"

"Am I?"

"What do you think?"

"I think I fucking better be."

"Well there you go." He pushed her aside and headed down toward the bathroom to shower. "Yeah," he turned to look at her. "You are my old lady, Ror."
