It was still dark outside when you opened your eyes. Your body felt like it it was on fire and your throat felt swollen making it hard to swallow. "Shit" you muttered, quietly removing yourself from Emily who was still peacefully sleeping besides you in the bed. You knew this was the first time in days she could actually sleep properly so you didn't have the heart to wake her.

You quietly made your way into the kitchen to drink some water. The wooden floors felt cold against the soles of your bare feet, adding some relief to your otherwise burning skin. You checked the time, it was 6 am, you sighed and grabbed a glas of water and sank down on the floor with your back pressed against the cold counter. You tried to drink the water but you could barely keep it down without feeling like you would throw up. You closed your eyes to minimize the headache that you felt forming. Your head was pounding against your eardrums for reasons you couldn't quite place. Perhaps the exhaustion and lack of sleep from the case was catching up with you, reducing you to a bundle of pain and whines.

"y/n?" You heard a voice call out.

Fuck

You didn't want to wake her because of some stupid headache, She needed to sleep.

"Go back to bed" you groaned still keeping your eyes closed. She came over to you and kneeled down in front of you. "What's going on?" She asked concerned. You opened your eyes feeling your headache getting stronger again making you wince in pain. "Just a headache" you mumbled.

She reached out and touched your forehead with the back of her hand and gasped "baby you're burning up"

"I'm fine Em, please go to sleep, you haven't slept in days" you whispered feeling tears start to form in the back of your eyes.

"y/n you're sick" She said in a soft tone.

"I- I'm sorry for waking you" you chocked out feeling tears running down your cheeks. Emily looked really worried to why you were suddenly crying. "Baby Im not mad at you, why would I be? You can't help that you're sick. Let's get you off of the floor, okay?" she whispered wiping your tears. You nodded lightly looking into her soft brown eyes. She picked you up, carrying you bridal style to the couch. She sat you down before laying down on the couch and gesturing for you to lay on her chest. Her left arm secured you tightly against her, your body being slightly tilted towards hers, allowing you to see each other.

You looked up at her and gave her a weak smile, mumbling "thank you".

"Are you comfortable?" She asked, already knowing the answer as she looked down to your eyes to find them closed in bliss. "You'll get sick too" you mumbled against her chest. "I don't care" she smiled gently running her fingers through your hair. 

"Do you want to try to sleep a bit?" She asked. You shook your head slightly in response. "Can we watch a movie?" You ask giving her a look you knew she couldn't say no to.

"Of course, what do you want to watch?" She asked grabbing the remote.

"Carol?" You said because it was your all time favorite movie and you hadn't watched it with Emily yet. "didn't you just watch that one?" She chuckled. "Not with you" you smiled hugging her closer. Emily noticed the goosebumps forming on your skin and immediately reached for your favorite blanket, putting it over the two of you to keep you warm.

You finished the movie and Emily ended up liking it which made you happy but she definitely payed more attention to you than the plot. You had closed your eyes and relaxed in Emily's embrace which made you feel a bit better. "How do you feel?" She asked touching your forehead again which was still way too warm. "Great" you mumbled making her chuckle "of course you do"
