a month past and y/n was out of the hospital along with kobe the cop ended up getting three years with a chance of probation which made everyone mad then kobe started rehab a week ago and he seemed to be doing fine so everything was fine until y/n was in her room with the twins rocking alaina back and forth to get her to stop crying while dior laid on his stomach gumming on his fist and kobe came upstairs with his hand rubbing his temples

Y: what's wrong kobe
Kobe: ugh rehab just has me stressing out
Y: oh i'm sorry
Kobe: yea
Y: well we could go do something tomorrow
Kobe: i have rehab tomorrow
Y: oh well i was just saying because we haven't hung out or spent time together since the twins were born
Kobe: yea because i've been focusing on my recovery
Y: i know i just thought it would be nice to spend time with you but i understand
Kobe: you're making me feel as if i have to spend time with you
Y: no i'm sorry i'm not trying to i understand that you need to focus i just miss you
Kobe: i think it's best if we take a break while i'm in rehab
Y: what why
Kobe: because i'm trying to focus on recovering and i can't do that if i have to worry about spending time with you and feeling bad if i don't
Y: so this means we're done
Kobe: only for now yea
Y: oh well if that's what you want then sure

kobe shook his head then turned around about to walk out

Y: i'm sorry i wanted to spend time with you but hey now you got one less thing to worry about have fun

kobe left out closing the door and y/n shook her head putting her ring into its box then she put it in her drawer and hung her head down then she laid alaina down and just sat there fighting back tears then king and leilani came out of their rooms going into hers and sitting down on the bed playing with the twins

Y: look who came out of hibernation
King: i got bored
Leilani: i just didn't want to be in my room anymore
King: where's dad going
Y: what do you mean
King: he left out of the house
Y: um i can't answer that because i don't know
Leilani: is everything ok
Y: why'd you ask that
Leilani: your eyes are watering
Y: oh yea everything's fine don't worry i just yawned
King: if you're tired me and leilani can watch the twins
Y: nah i'm fine

as soon as y/n said that there was a knock on the door downstairs

Y: actually watch them real quick i'll be back
Leilani: ok

y/n got up walking downstairs and opening the door when she did she saw dejuane, kanan, and kay standing there

Y: oh hey guys what's up
Kay: we ain't been around in a while so we decided to come over
Y: ok come in

i moved to the side letting the guys in then i told them to come upstairs with me and we went into my room sitting on the bed

Dejuane: i don't mean to point it out but where's your ring
Y: oh we're taking a break
Kanan: why
Y: he said he needs to focus on rehab
Kay: damn sorry so your single
Y: yup
Kay: awe ok ok well my name's kay

kanan nudged kay causing y/n to laugh then they all laughed with her

Kanan: but for real i'm sorry to hear that
Y: it's the way my life goes nothing new i'll be fine
Kay: it's none of my business but you shouldn't settle for that you're too pretty to settle for the bare minimum
Y: everyone tells me that just to get with me then they treat me like everyone else
Kay: well maybe you need someone who'll actually treat you different
Y: and how do i find that someone
Kay: make a list
Y: a list
Kay: yea make a list of traits you like then every time you meet a guy and you start to like them check the box if they have one of the traits and if they check all of them then you've found the right guy if not then keep looking until someone meets all of your standards that way you never have to worry about someone not being right for you
Y: but what if the guy i really want to be with doesn't check everything
Kay: then even though you don't want to then you need to move on so you can find the person that does
Dejuane: how do you feel about kobe leaving again
Y: well i mean even though i wanted it to no one said it would last forever so there's nothing i can do but wish him the best who knows maybe when he's ready he'll come back
Kanan: i hate to break it to you but when a guy says he needs a break it's usually because he wants to fuck around then when he's done he'll come back to you
Y: oh
Kanan: i'm sorry that sounded cruel
Y: no you said what i needed to hear i appreciate it
Kanan: of course i just don't want to see you get played
Y: thanks well i hope no matter what happens he stays happy
Kay: how do you do it
Y: do what
Kay: get broken up with and cheated on and all this crap and still want the best for him
Y: because even in the bad times there was good times and those mean more to me so why wish the worst for someone who gave you the best version of themselves
Kay: fair point i can't do anything but agree
Y: the hardest part though is watching them do the same thing they did for you for someone else
