"Again, shrimp!" "Come on, you wimp!" "Move it, worthless!" Eric's acidic voice rang through your mind as you slammed your tiny fists into the punching bag, not making as much of an impact as you'd hoped. As you kicked, punched, and blocked, hot tears began to stream down your face as his menacing voice echoed in your brain, a constant reminder of how you were not strong enough, fast enough, or smart enough for Dauntless. "You're pathetic, initiate. You'll never survive in Dauntless." "You'll be dead the first time you step into that ring." "Go fall off the bridge, it's an easier way to go." Your knuckles were practically busted open, searing with sharp pain with every blow to your raw skin. Still, you couldn't stop. Eric had made your life a living hell that was impossible to escape. Everywhere you would turn, there he was, judging you and picking on your small size and lack of muscle. He loved seeing you in such pain, he craved it. As your fist flew into the bag for the hundredth time, you let out a cry, sinking to the gym floor as you examined your knuckles. They were every shade of red and purple, bruising and covered with blood. As you buried you face in your destroyed hands, your loud sobs were the only thing to be heard in the empty gym. You had to find a way out of this damned place. "Hello?" A voice rang through the gym and you looked up, seeing Four standing on the other side of the room. You quickly dried your tears, standing up on wobbly legs that could give out on any moment. Four began to walk towards you, raising an eyebrow skeptically. "Y/N? What are you doing here so late?" You moved to hide your hands behind your back, shrugging nonchalantly. "I came in for some extra training. How about you?" Tobias stopped in front of you, folding his arms across his chest. "I was walking past and I heard someone crying," You immediately averted your eyes in shame, "What's really going on, Y/N?" You shook you head, giving him a fake smile. "Nothing. Can't a girl train?" He saw straight through your façade, grabbing hold of your wrist and making your eyes widen. He silently studied your destroyed knuckle, shaking his head sadly. Letting out a deep sigh, he began to speak. "Y/N-" "-I can explain, Four." "I've already told you, you're not build for stuff like this," He said, pointing to the punching bag, "You need to focus on-" "-Agility and offense, I know. But Four-" "-Do you want to hurt yourself? Is that it? If so, keep doing what you're doing, because your hands are going to be completely shredded, Y/N." You rolled your eyes, yanking your hand away from him. "What else am I suppose to do? I'm not strong, I'm not quick, I can't exactly crush my competitors! I'm hopeless!" You snapped, sniffling as more tears threatened to spill over. "Eric was right about me." Four let out a deep sigh, shaking his head. "Listen, I can help you. You just have to listen to what I'm telling you, Y/N. Believe it or not, your small size can be an advantage IF you learn how to use it right." You sighed, folding your arms. "Fine." Four's lips curved into a small smile as he began to take off his jacket, chuckling. "Let's get to work."
