Mariam's POV
She's not even pretty!
I mean, what does she have going for her anyway? I've got the height, the confidence, this killer body. I've literally been starving myself trying to cinch my waist for this dress I need to wear to my modelling campaign launch party. Literally throwing up my food to purge and stay thin. I have to look flawless!
"Mariam dear, make sure you're the best dressed at this party. Every eye should be on you. I want everything to be picture perfect." Hero's mother is such a sweetheart! She'd do anything to see Hero and me together, and I just love how supportive she is. "Martha, for things to be perfect, Hero needs to be there. Right now, he's so infatuated with that Josephine girl that he's not even answering my texts." Martha comes to stand beside me and puts her arm over my shoulder. "Hero will be there. I've made sure of it. As for Josephine, she isn't anyone to worry about. Leave that matter to me. Hero's just being a typical boy and resisting commitment of any kind. I know he cares for you a lot. He even got you something for the party... here."
She places a small blue box in my hand. I'm not sure what I'm expecting but the fact that Hero got me something is exciting. He must actually have feelings for me, not that it matters. I need my relationship with him to work, or my family's business will be in ruins. I knew my charm would work on him eventually. "Oh... it's so pretty" in the box lies a delicate golden chain and a cluster of little gemstone hearts. It's so not my style, but it's cute, I guess.
Hero's going to be attending, and he got me a gift! Not just any gift... he got me jewelry! I'm sure that Josephine girl had him all confused about his feelings, but I'll fix that. We have to end up together. I can't afford this lifestyle on my own. My eyelash appointments alone cost a fortune because of the individual mink eyelashes I have to get applied to achieve this doll eye look that's so hot! I hope my next shipment of Mink lashes comes in on time from Russia. Those animal cruelty people better not have gotten in the way of my eyelash look!
"This is the dress I'm going to wear. What do you think?" I hold it up for Martha to see. It's an ultra-mini black spaghetti strap dress with an open zipper detail on the back. It's meant to look like it's unzipped, and the zipper has Swarovski crystals affixed to it. "Mariam darling, you'll look so stunning that it'll be worthy of the front page news!" I love this woman! She's just so supportive. It makes me wish Hero and I were an actual couple. He's not exactly my type personality-wise, he's way too reserved, but his looks are too good to resist. Maybe we can make this work once the deal is done and my financial future is secure.
Martha may think I'll be a show stopper, but Hero, on the other hand, is such a gentleman that I bet he won't even try anything with me regardless of how sexy I look. I'm always the one making the first move. It's been so long since I felt his touch. It's not a particularly loving touch, but he's never been rough with me. He's not anything like the other guys I sleep with. Even Jack gets too rough and pushes his limits. It's always the ones you're closest with that push boundaries. Hero and I only ever had sex in one position, which is probably how he likes it, but I really want him on top of me. No, cancel that - I want to ride him. This party will be the perfect opportunity for me to sneak him away and remind him of what he's missing. That Josephine chick doesn't stand a chance. Besides, I'm Mariam fucken Jackson! Hero and I have history... what the fuck does she have anyway?

Jo's POV
"Happy Valentine's ay!" His voice just warms my heart!
"What's with the 'ay'? Are you trying to be Canadian?" I can't help but giggle.
"No, babe I'm not trying to be Canadian. I just said 'ay' and left the 'D' out because I figured I'd give it to you later." I can hear him chuckle, and I bet his dimples are showing through his naughty smile.
