HFT's POV
Her fingers were wrapped around it while her thumb swept the tip. She brought her other hand up to grab the long shaft and moved her hands in a slight twisting motion. I couldn't keep my eyes on her movements.
"I-It's uhh... I mean... you should just push that in." I pointed to the trusting mechanism at the end of her pen disguised as the lid. My voice sounded raspy from the thoughts in my head. "Oh, I thought it was the twisting kind," Jo smiled innocently. She didn't have the slightest clue what being this near her was doing to me. We had come close to removing the pillow barrier between us on the bed back in L.A but a very frazzled Mercy knocked on the door, asking for my help. Ava was fussing and, despite everyone's efforts, wouldn't settle down. She seemed to only calm down in my arms.On the plane, I thought maybe Jo and I could finally get some time to ourselves, but our seats were far apart due to the last-minute booking.
We were now sitting in one of the smaller boardrooms at the LMD² office in Chicago. Katherine had laid out a stack of agreements for us to review and sign. Jo was diligently reviewing each document and asking questions about various clauses she wanted clarification on. She had asked for information on a new deal from Kayden and was excited that this deal would double the DFT Group funds while she had them.
I, on the other hand, was admiring her gorgeous legs visible through the glass tabletop. The angle thankfully made it look like I was paying attention to the papers instead. My eyes widened when Jo uncrossed her legs and rested one hand on her thigh, playing with the hem of her dress.
Her hand slid higher, her fingers going slightly under the fabric. She's not doing what I think she's doing, right?
My eyes darted up to her face. Of course, she was mocking me because I'd been caught. "I can't help it!" I huffed and rolled my eyes, running a hand through my unruly hair. Fuck needing space and waiting for things to calm down. I needed her. Couldn't she see that?
Jo opened her mouth to respond, but Katherin's voice cut in. "Listen, I'd love to stand around and watch you two want to fuck but not actually do it, like seriously, I live for these awkward as fuck moments, but I made dinner plans with Jo, and we need to leave here in half an hour. I'd suggest you two speed up the signing process and continue your twisted games later." Her sarcasm was at its finest, and as much as I wanted to tell her off, I refrained for Jo's sake.
"We're almost done here. Just reviewing this last one and noting the changes that need to be made, so I have the ability to invest DFT Group's money while it's under our control." Jo stated with confidence, and I couldn't help but enjoy this side of her. I can't help but feel proud of how much Jo has grown this past year. Her business sense is very promising, and although she only briefly gave me an idea of what she wants to do with the money from DTF Group, I'm excited to see what she has in mind.
"Do you really need to go out after dinner, Jo? I'm worried about your safety with James and Jack still out there. Can I at least drive you, so I know you're safe?" I hate seeming clingy and really want her to have a good time, but I can't have anything happen to her.
She nods and glances at Katherine with a raised eyebrow as if to ask Katherine what her thoughts are. "Look, at least let her have dinner with me. I promise no funny business. Besides, You still have to sign off on your section of these agreements and review the changes with Nico and Kay. You guys should order something and then meet us at the Panasonic Theater. I have a friend who is performing there tonight, and I am bringing Jo along for a fun night out." Kat's voice doesn't give me any indication that she is being sarcastic, so I agree. I know I'll be worried sick about Jo the entire time she's out of my sight, but I also know Katherine wouldn't leave Jo's side knowing the danger that still lurks out there. I take a deep breath leaning down to give Jo a chaste peck on the lips as Kat whisks her away.
