Never Stop (Shoni)

Chapter Nine

The car ride to the cancer center was silent. Shelby's parents in the front and Toni and the blonde in the back.

Everyone was too busy being in their own heads, scared of what this day started, to speak.

Toni grabbed Shelby's hand and squeezed it firmly signaling Thats she was there.

The blonde looked over with glossy eyes and gave a sad smile. Toni wanted anything to be able to take away this girls pain. She'd even take on the cancer for her if she could.

That's how you know she loves her. She'll do absolutely anything for this girl even if it means dying.

As they pulled into the parking lot Shelby's grip tightened on Tonis hand.

"Alright girls, let's get inside." Shelby's mom said getting out of the car and opening the door.

"Um can we have a minute? We'll be right in." Toni said knowing that Shelby needed a minute to calm down.

"Of course, we've got some paperwork to fill out anyways." With that her parents walked away and into the building.

"Breathe." Toni said breaking the silence.

"I can't. I can't do this. I won't." Shelby said, tears now falling.

"Look at me." Shelby reluctantly made eye contact.

"In four hours, you'll be one session closer to beating this thing. Find the positive out of this. It's scary I know, I can't imagine what's running through your mind but I know I'm my heart that you can do this. I'd give anything, even my life so you didn't have to go through what you're about to. But since I can't switch spots with you, I'm going to
Sit here and hold your hand and not let go okay? You can do this. I believe in you." Toni barely got to finish before the blonde connected their lips in a passionate kiss.

Toni was shocked at first, not even able to kiss back but once she did she tasted the saltiness of the kiss from the girls tears.

They pulled away and Toni instantly pulled her in for a hug.

"I love you Toni."

"I love you too Shelby. Now
Let's go kick this cancers ass!" With that the two girls got out of the car and made their way into the building.

2 hours Later

It's been 2 hours and Shelby is just about
Halfway through her first session of chemo. She wasn't feeling much besides the little pain the IV causes.

Her parents went to get something to eat not wanting to crowd the area. Toni and Shelby just sat and talked with one another trying to Keep their minds off of what's going on.

"Do you think the girls will come over tonight just to hang out?" Shelby asked wanting to see their others friends and keep their mind off of how she might be feeling.

"We can definitely text them and see. All depends on how you're feeling afterwards." Toni said flipping through the magazine she stole from the front desk.

2 hours later

It's now two hours later and the nurse is disconnecting Shelby from her IV. Toni helped get Shelby in the wheel chair and grabbed all their things. Her parents went to get  the car and bring it to the entrance.

"Alright, now Shelby... You might start to feel a few symptoms such as fatigue, nausea and vomiting, Don't be alarmed these are all normal side effects. They typically don't occur after the first round but everyone is different." The nurse said finish up her paperwork and handing it to Shelby.
