Chapter Five

"I'm telling you Toni, you may be new here but don't bash on the girls at this school. There's plenty of women here for you." Fatin said while taking a bite of her french fries.

It's the first day of freshman year and Toni was already insulted about being gay twice. Luckily Her best friends Martha and Fatin always had her back no matter what.

"I'm mean look at me, am I not appealing to you?" Fatin said standing up and spinning around.

"Oh yeah I'd totally sleep with you." The brunette said with an eye roll.

"I would sleep with you Fatin."

"Thank you, you see. Martha has taste."

"Whatever, I'm going to go get another bag of Takis." With that the brunette got up and walked her way towards the vending machine in the corner of the cafeteria.

High school is such a weird part of life. It's filled with meat head jocks who bark and think they are going pro, it's filled with preppy cheerleaders who think they are the queen of England. Oh high school also has the art students who walk around barefoot and eat an assortment of plants for their meals.

And then you have the "normal people" the ones that fall under no special category and typically go under the radar. That's where Toni and her friends fall. Fatin is technically a band geek but she definitely doesn't fit the stereotype of that one.

"Oh come on!" Toni yelled kicking the vending machine. Her Takis getting stuck during the vending process.

With more groaning the Takis didn't budge.

"You know, if you give the machine a little love instead of abusing it then it might work." Toni heard from
Behind her. Every word was laced with this southern accent, something she found quit adorable even though she would never admit that.

Toni turns around only to have the wind knocked out of her. She hasn't seen this girl around yet but man was she breath taking. Her hazel eyes were glowing, her blonde hair was falling down her shoulders perfectly and her smile was lighting up the entire room.

Toni wanted to respond to the strangers remark but struggled to even swallow.

"Can I help?" The girl asked. Toni just stepped aside signally for the girl to go for it.

The girl cracked her fingers like she was about to do some big maneuver. Instead she stepped to the side of it and did a little hip bump and out fell two bags of Takis.

The blonde takes out the bags and hands one to Toni keeping the other for herself.

"See, easy peasy. I'm Shelby by the way." Shelby held out her hand to properly greet the girl.

"Toni." They shook hands and Shelby smiled.

"Well Toni, I guess I owe you a bag of tikis, I'll see you around." With that Shelby winked and walked away to retake her seat with her four other friends.

"Fuck."

"Fuck fuck fuck." Toni said to herself as she made her way to lunch since she missed her class.

"I can't believe I just did that." Toni said out loud taking a seat next to Nora.

"Hey Toni, I've missed you." Nora said as she hugged the distressed girl next to her. Everyone was at the table already, Dot, Fatin, Martha, Nora, Racheal, and Leah. The only one missing was the blonde that she left in the girls locker room.
