Jillian Klairo
Lumipas ang mga araw, I hated and loved my profession at the same time. Hated because I don't have enough sleep, coffee is my bloodline, which means I have to poop every ten minutes...but of course, my loving man always gets a decaffeinated one kaya hindi na sumasakit ang tiyan ko.
From broken bones, stab and gunshot wounds, since na-assign ako sa emergency room at ortho. Valve replacements, maze repair, Coronary Bypass with Dr. Carbeo with god complex. Craniotomy, Neuro endoscopy, and biopsy with Dr. Perez. And to my most favorite field, Pediatrics. I loved the kids and they loved me too. That's why it's harder for me to switch departments when it's time.
I have held newborn babies, played board games with little kids to soothe their nervousness while waiting for their surgeries. So far, we haven't lost any patient yet...which made me so grateful...There was one case that was really odd tho.
May ten year na bata na nagko-complain sa sakit sa tenga. We thought maybe it was inflammation but when Dr. Añonuevo, our head of Plastics and EENT doctor checked his ear. It turned out na may popcorn sa loob ng tenga niya.
Yes, a freaking popcorn! Hindi agad iyon napasin ng mga former doctors na nag-check sa kanya dahil may tumubo na balat sa paligid noon, making it look like just an earwax. Hindi namin alam kung paano doon napasok, but I helped extracted it. Now, the popcorn is in a jar and the family took it home dahil gusto noong bata na iuwi iyon as a 'souvenir'.
"Alam mo love kita, di ba?" Nakasandal kami ni Creed sa main desk dito sa emergency room. Sabay kami ng shift at ilang oras na lang ay patapos na iyon. It's just five in the morning and yet we have patients in some hospital beds with banana bags dahil pumunta sila dito ng lasing at may head laceration because of a bar fight.
Tumingala naman ako sa kanya at ngumisi.
"For the last time we can't have sèx in the on call room.." I whispered and looked around.
He pouted. His hair is neatly tied in a man bun, may mga strand ng kanyang buhok sa gilid ng kanyang mukha.
"Come on...wala namang pasyente oh..just five minutes."
Inirapan ko siya.
"Mamaya, pag uwi.."
"But we will be dead tired.."
"Dr. Del Russo.." Inayos ko kunwari ang kanyang whitecoat. "If you behave. I will ride you so good and hard...you will curl your toes and you will see cloud nine." Bulong ko.
He grinned wolfishly.
"Okay then."
A middle aged lady walked in, clutching her chest. It looked like she couldn't breathe. Mabilis kaming dalawang lumapit.
"I'll call Dr. Soriano." She was wearing a long skirt and a blouse. Her hair is already greyish-black.
"Ma'am, I am Dr. Esperansa and I will be taking care of you, okay? Ma'am I need you to relax." I said softly as I checked her vitals.
"Hindi m-makahinga.." She was wheezing. "H-Hikaw sa b-baga."
What?
He's panicking.
"Tita, I'm sorry," Mabilis siyang lumapit sa babae. "Hi, I am her nephew..I had to park the car."
