Year 4 at Hogwarts
Ivory's POV:
It was midnight, yet I still couldn't seem to fall asleep. The sound of the clock ticking back and forth was getting on my nerves. My thoughts were constantly keeping my mind busy tonight. Twisting and turning every minute, and my legs are getting more restless. It was so immensely frustrating to see the time fly by, and not succeed in falling asleep.
I crawled out from under the covers, and sat on the edge of the bed. Glancing over at Ginny and Hermione, I noticed how both didn't have any trouble sleeping. Maybe some fresh air would help clear my head. My hand reached under the bed, searching for my slippers. I accidentally shoved my trunk to the side, which made a loud squeak. I held my breath as my body tensed up. Luckily, Ginny and Hermione didn't wake up from the noise.
However, I still couldn't find my slippers or shoes anywhere. Shit, I must have left them at Luna's dorm last night. I dusted off my hands and got back up again. Maybe I should just crawl back in bed, because right now walking without shoes was the only way to go. "Fuck it."
The floor felt rough and cold beneath my feet. Quietly tiptoeing to the door was quite a challenge, due to the mess we made in our dorm yesterday. All of a sudden, I felt an unbearable stinging pain under my foot. I must have stepped on something sharp.
"Ouch!" I groaned. Maybe a little too loud. Ginny woke up and got out of bed to check where the noise was coming from. It was actually hilarious to see her struggle in the darkness. The door was slightly opened. She looked left and right in the hallway. "Fuck Ivory, you scared the shit out of me.", Ginny gasped. One hand went up to her mouth right away, and the other went up to her chest to feel her heart racing.
"Hi..." I awkwardly smiled, as I nonchalantly rubbed my foot.
Leaning against the door frame, she frowned, looking down at my feet. "Did Luna brainwash you into walking on bare feet or something?" The fact that I was with Luna last night, who almost never wears shoes, was a little suspicious. So I could see where her comment was coming from. I shrugged, not knowing what to say.
"I see. Where are you going?"
"I'm just going for a walk."
"Right..., be careful then and don't get caught. Snape tends to walk around the hallways at night lately. At least that's what Dean Thomas told me."
"Are you going out again with Dean Thomas?!" I frowned, but I was so excited for her. Ginny had the biggest crush on him last year.
"Goodnight, Ivory.", Ginny replied in haste, closing the door behind her. I laughed and stumbled off. I hope I am not going to get caught, otherwise detention is on my program tomorrow.
"Lumos...", I whispered, taking my wand out. The tip of my wand lit up. It was just enough light to help me see, so I would not step on anything again. One of my favorite hiding spots in the school was the Astronomy Tower. I used to come there quite often, so finding my way to it wasn't like a maze, even though the castle is ginormous.
I had to admit, it was a little scary walking alone around the school so late at night. However, I tried to remain calm and quickly made my way through the big, dark hallways. I stopped when I heard footsteps echoing in the distance. "I'm alone here, everyone is asleep.", I kept repeating to myself.
