I was in the laundry room, putting the last batch of sheets into the drier. It was exhausting since I was the only one doing this. My supposed partner left without me noticing, hours ago. The room was hot from the drier going on and the folding.

It was such a struggle since I had to do balance on one leg. The room was quiet, no yelling, screaming, fighting. Only if home was this quiet. I folded the last sheet, putting it with the rest on the cart. The hallway light flickers, it was quiet as I made my way to my cell. As I turned around the corner, I was punched, dragged into a closet. A woman got on top of me and started to punch and kick me.

All of the sudden, I just got up and attacked her. It was the woman who gave me a dirty look the other day during lunch. I kept punching her, but she had hit me right in face, making me lose balance. My nose started to bleed and she scatterer out. I groaned in pain and headed out. My cell door opens Xiomara looks up from her magazine and sees me cleaning my face. She stands up, grabs my face.

"Who did this to you?" I shrugged her off and sat on my bed. "Ana." She whispers.

"I don't know who she was, just let it go."

"Come on." She grabs my arm and headed out. We went to a room and met with other two women. "This is Marisol." Xiomara greeted me to the other two older women. They reminded me of female versions of Coco and Angel.

"Betty, and this is Camilla." We nodded heads and shook hands. "Looks like you got fucked up."

"Who did that to you?" Camilla asked me.

"Some bitch." I looked up and there she was. She just entered the room and sat down to look at the tv.

"Pinche Ana." They knew by the look I had when she walked in. "She always got beef with someone who looks at her, even a glance." Xiomara puts her hand on my shoulder. "We got you, stick with us and you'll be safe."

"Im your eyes." Camilla winks. "Think of me of your guardian angel."

"I can get whatever you want, anything you can think of, I got." Betty smirks.

"Thanks." I gave them a smile.

"Why are you in here? You look innocent."

"Long story short, my ex boyfriend came in, beat me up and tried to kill me and I shot him." The women leaned back.

"Ay, that was self defense! Pinche system-"

"Su padre es el deputy."

"Bullshit!" Xiomara slams her hands on the table. "Eso es por que estas aqui."

"He did that shit to you?" Camilla pointed at my bruised neck. I just nodded.

"They better get yo case cleared."

"No worries Marisol, you'll get out of here." Betty holds my hand tight. "You are innocent."

"I know that, that mother fucker deserved it." We all busted out in a laugh. Xiomara passed out cigarettes for us to have. These women are fun to be around. I cracked a smile as they told me their jokes and shit that was funny.

"What you all do to get in here?"

"Murdered my husband for cheating." Betty said.

"Selling crack." Camilla followed. Xiomara stayed silent, drawing the cigarette.

"I tried to protect my daughter from her abusive boyfriend, I pulled the trigger." She formed a smile. "Nobody puts hands on my baby." Xiomara looks at me. "You remind me of her." She stops, she didn't want to talk about it anymore. "Who do you have waiting for you?"
