Hidden Strengths

"Guys, I think I know what Bruce wants," Jason exclaims. "But I'm not entirely sure."

"One idea is better than none right?" Ben suggests.

"I guess so..." Esme says after a few moments pause.

'What's your idea?" Hannah asks.

Jason thinks for a minute then answers. "How did the prophecy go?"

Ben spoke up, "I think it started with, 'Children of the ancient ones, hear the sirens call.'"

"For only you can grow to be the saviours of us all. Sons of lightning, and forge, that's Jason and Leo."  Esme states.

"Daughters of hunt and sea. That's myself, Bri and Esme." Hannah adds.

"Combine your hidden strengths, And find out what you can be." Ben says.

"Rough seas ahead, you must stand tall. For light to triumph and darkness fall." Jason finishes. "I think Bruce wants us to do what the prophecy says, 'to combine our hidden strengths.'"

"How are we meant to do that?" Esme glares at Bruce.

"Can't we do it tomorrow?" Ben complains.

Hannah looks back at Bruce, sitting on the floor, panting with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. "Doesn't look like it." She states.

"Okay, how about I shoot an arrow and Jason, you try to sizzle it with lightning!" Esme suggests sarcastically.

Jason ponders this for a moment, "Actually, that might work."

Esme turns to stare at him. "What?" she exclaims.

"We have to combine our hidden strengths. Start throwing out your strengths. Especially the hidden ones." Jason explains.

"I can change what I look like." Ben points out as he shifts into Jason. Esme stares at Ben-Jason and then huffs. "You could've mentioned that earlier."

Ben changes back to himself, except his hair is now a light turquoise.

Hannah steps forward, "I can control water. Not much else to be said." Hannah sticks out her hand and a small ball of water forms itself.

"Can it heal you, like it does for Percy?" Jason asks.

"No idea." Hannah replies. Bruce doesn't bark as Esme runs to her bed and returns to the centre of the room with something in her hand. An arrow. She motions for Hannah to hold out her arm and Hannah does so.

Before Hannah could understand what's about to happen, Esme swiftly ran the arrowhead against her pinkie. Droplets of blood form from the cut and Hannah looks shocked.

"Now control the water, so it sits over your pinkie." Esme points to the new cut and the ball of water. Jason and Ben watch as Hannah closes her eyes.

Hannah thinks of the water enveloping her finger and healing the cut. When she opens her eyes the water is around her finger, the blood slowly returning to her finger.

"Cool." She says.

I woke up to the sound of clanging metal. In the dim light I saw the door of Leo's cell open and a figure be pushed into it. The figure fell to the ground and I could now hear heavy breathing. The door swung closed and I heard footsteps right outside my door. I stayed completely still; worried they would hurt me.

"I know your awake, Hannah." He said my name with venom and I knew the speaker was Tom. Tom, the boy, who had saved me from falling. The boy, who I had talked with, about being a demigod. The boy, who I had kissed.

Except, this was a different side of Tom. This was the evil side of him, the Kronos side.

"Get up." Tom orders. I stay where I am on the floor and reply with a weak shake of my head. "Let's try again, shall we?" His words laced with sarcasm. "Get up."

"No." I reply, finding my voice. Tom glares at me through the iron bars. He reaches for his wrist and I can make out a fire-red bracelet with a button on it. He holds the button down and I immediately feel pain, immense pain. The shock comes from the flaming handcuffs that seal my hands.

I writhe on the floor and start shaking from the electricity running through my veins. When the shock stops I feel the electricity linger on my skin.

"Get up." Tom orders. I slowly rise to my feet and stand against the back wall. "Come here." He orders again. I stumble over to the iron bars and see Tom standing near the door. When I get there I stand fragilely against the cool bars.

I shiver, but I don't know if it's from the bars or being this close to him. "Give me your foot." I decide I would be better off if I did as he said. He grasps my right foot in between his hands and chuckles. I lean onto the bars for support as he pulls my foot more towards him.

I wonder what he needs my foot for when he slowly turns it to the left, flaring pain from my ankle. I inhale quickly and pull my foot back. My ankle is slightly throbbing.

"Put it back." He simply orders. I shake my head and Tom looks into my eyes. Tom goes to press the button but I stick my ankle out again. He smiles and grabs my foot before I pull it back again.

Except, this time he sharply twists it to the right. I shriek and Tom lets go, successfully breaking my ankle. I fall to the ground as my ankle starts throbbing and I shuffle to the back of my cell.

"See you tomorrow, Brianna." Tom says coldly. Then he turns and walks down the long, dark hallway. I take a peek at my ankle and see it is bent at an awkward angle, quite obviously broken. A tear escapes my eye and soon a waterfall is falling down my cheeks.
