Forgiven

"Hey buddy how was your game?" Hotch asked as the 6 year old walked through the door, with his aunt shortly behind him

"Go away, I hate you!" He yelled and stormed up to his room. Aaron felt as if his heart ripped out

"It will work out" Jessica smiled knowingly at the younger man as she left

Aaron gently knocked on his sons door before opening it
"Jack" he called

The boy sat in the corner of his bed with his back facing towards the door

"Jack-" Aaron started as he sat on the bed

"You promised Daddy. You promised you'd be there" Jack cried

"Buddy, please just listen" he said as he pulled Jack to him and held the boy

Eventually Jack turned and leaned into his dad
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to tell. It was probably important" Jack replied wiping his tears

"It was important" Aaron smiled

"I miss her" Jack told his father

"I have a surprise for you"

"I don't like surprises Daddy" he answered, nervously backing further up his bed

"You'll like this one"

"Promise?" Jack asked wearily

"I promise bud" A smile graced the boys face

"Okay! Where is it?" He asked

"Right here" her voice made Jacks head whip up

"Em'ly" the boy screamed excitedly, jumping off his bed and into her waiting arms

"Oh, I have missed you" Emily smiled as she held him close to her. One hand on his back the other in his hair

"I missed you too. So much. It wasn't the same without you" Jack smiled sadly

"I'm back now buddy"

"Forever?" He asked hopefully

"Forever" she confirmed as Aaron made his way to them.

"Okay bed time buddy" Aaron said after looking at his watch seeing that it was 10:30

"But daddy" he whined curling further into Emily as they laid on the couch watching Cars

"How about while daddy has a shower, I'll tuck you in and read you a story" Emily suggested

Nodding the boy reluctantly walked back to his room.
"I'll see you soon" Emily said placing a kiss on Aaron lips

"The end" Emily ended the book

"I liked that one" Jack said half asleep

Standing up Emily made sure the cover were fit snuggly around his shoulders before walking towards the door

Smiling when she felt a tug on her hand followed by a mumbled '5 minutes' Emily pulled back the cover and laid down with the boy

After showering and laying in his bed for now more than 20 minutes Aaron got a bit concerned when Emily hadn't returned yet

Slowly opening his sons door he couldn't help but smile when he saw Jack and Emily cuddled together, their bodies barely highlighted by the dimmed night light

As much as he wanted to hold Emily tonight, he back away happy with sleeping arrangements for the night
