Sasuke's pov
Hanako walked past me, seemingly annoyed.
I didn't want to make her angry, but I don't want anything stopping me from reaching my goal.
I decided to follow her outside.
She was sitting in a tree.
It was a while before she noticed me watching her.
She jumped down beside me.
"What is it?" she asked.
I leaned forward and pressed my lips against her's.
She immediately responded back.
I pulled her onto my lap, so that she was straddling me.
I broke the kiss to look at her.
Her cheeks were flushed.
I leaned my forehead against her's.
"Don't be mad," I told her. "One reason I want you to stay here while I'm out is because I don't want to lose you."
"You won't lose me," she said.
"Well, I'm not taking any chances," I said, giving her a serious look. "I can't lose you..."
She kissed me softly, then rested her forehead on mine.
"You won't,"she said. "I'll always be here, I promise."
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"Okay."

Still Sasuke's pov
We were all sitting in a meeting room.
"Sasuke, your team will capture the Eight-Tails," Tobi ordered.
"Hn. Alright."
After the meeting was over, I went to my room.
I felt something burn my chest and pulled it out.
It was the necklace Hanako gave me.
My finger that was touching the rose felt like it was on fire.
The necklace had never done anything like this before.
It didn't even make sense.
How did it become so hot?
Hanako's pov
After the meeting, I went to my room.
I weaved a few signs with my hands.
"Chakra Transfer no Jutsu," I said.
A few seconds later, I felt as if my body had been set on fire.
I transferred a small amount of my chakra into the necklace.
If anything happened to Sasuke, I would know.
The necklace was made to be like this.
It was a way for my great-grandfather to know if anything happened to my great-grandmother.
I winced as the burning feeling became more intense.
My mother once told me that for what we want most, there is a price we must pay. To gain something we want, we must sacrifice something else.
Just like how my great-grandfather sacrificed himself for the sake of the village.
And how he endured the burning pain of this chakra transference technique so that he could keep my great-grandmother safe.
I understood what she meant then, but I never imagined that the price of some things would be so high.
Now I completely understand.
The price to protect the village and keep Sasuke from becoming a mindless killer was both of our lives.
I didn't mind losing my own life, but he would have to die too.
To me his life was more precious than anything.
But I made a promise.
Make a promise. Keep it.
That's another thing my mother taught me.
If I wasn't willing to keep promises how could anybody trust me?
I felt like I was losing my mind.
I guess that's just another price I have to pay for this.
