Hanako's pov
I knocked on the door to the Hokage's office.
"Come in."
I opened the door and stepped into the room.
"Hanako, did you need something?" Auntie Tsuna asked when she saw me.
"Um... yes."
"Well,what is it?"
"I-I um... I need some vacation time," I said, nervously.
"Vacation time? For what?" she said, staring at me as if trying to figure out what I was trying to do.
"I just need some time off..." I answered. "I want to explore a bit. A vacation outside of Konoha."
"Hmmm... Well I don't really see the harm in that. How long will your vacation be?"
"I don't know. A year? Or two?" I suggested.
She frowned.
She continued frowning for about another ten minutes.
I was starting to feel jumpy and a bit nervous.
"Um... Auntie?"
"What?"
"So... what's your answer?"
"Hmmm. Fine. You may go on a vacation for two and a half years then."
My jaw dropped.
I didn't expect that. I thought she would say no or that I could only leave the village for six months.
"Why do you look so surprised Hanako?"
"I, um... nothing," I mumbled.
She squinted her eyes at me, trying to figure out what I was gonna say.
"Fine then," she finally said. "Now go before I change my mind."
I ran out of there as fast as I could.
The real reason I asked her for a vacation was so I could go to the Grass Village.
If Sasuke was the one who sent me that note and I'm more than certain that he was, than I'm not missing out on this.
And if it wasn't him at all?
Well, I could always come back to the village.
Why did I ask for a vacation instead of just leaving?
As the Hokage's niece, there'll be a whole bunch of people looking for me. I can't have that happening.
Especially if I'm trying to help Sasuke.
I ran to my apartment as fast as I could.
I grabbed my ninja supplies that I had already packed before I asked Auntie Tsunade.
After that I ran all the way to the front gate.
"Whoa! Aren't you running a bit too fast?" Kotetsu yelled at me.
"No," I said, stopping.
"Where are you going?" Izumo asked.
"On a vacation," I answered, slightly out of breath.
They both looked at me, enviously.
"Well, have fun then!" Izumo said.
"Yeah. Bring us some souvenirs," said Kotetsu.
I laughed a little.
"Sure. Bye!"
I took off running again before they could say anything.
Sasuke's pov
We were almost there.
Another day and we'd arrive at the Hidden Grass Village.
"Ugh... I'm so tired."
"Shut up, Suigetsu!"
"What have I done?!"
"You're annoying everyone here!"
"How do you know I'm annoying everyone? The only person who ever complains when I complain is you."
Smack!
"Karin, stop punching Suigetsu, Suigetsu, stop annoying Karin," I said for the fiftieth time that day.
Yes, I had been counting.
"Sasuke!" Karin yelled. "We're all tired. Can't we just make camp for the night?"
"No. We'll stop when I say so," I said, irritated.
We continued walking in silence for fifteen minutes.
Thunk.
I turned around.
Suigetsu was laying on the ground, half-asleep.
Sigh.
"Fine. We'll camp here for tonight."
Hanako's pov
I woke up in a strange place. I was on a tree branch.
What was I doing here?
I finally remembered.
I fell asleep here, last night.
I jumped down from the branch and stretched.
I wasn't too far from the village. I should be able to get there by tonight.
I grabbed a cracker from one of my bags and started eating it.
After I was done, I started running through the forest.
*mini time skip because I'm too lazy to describe her journey through the forest*
It felt like it was late afternoon.
I stopped, hearing voices.
"Shut up, Suigetsu! It's your fault for sleeping in! If you hadn't, we would've gotten there sooner!"
"It's not my fault. If I remember correctly, Juugo said that you barely woke up five minutes before I did!"
Whack!
Ouch. That sounded kinda painful.
I jumped up onto a tree branch, trying to hide.
Pretty soon, I saw some people walking towards me.
A redheaded female, a guy with white hair, a tall guy with orange hair, and...
My lips curved up into a smile.
A duck's butt.
Sasuke's pov
"Shut up, Suigetsu! It's your fault for sleeping in! If you hadn't, we would have gotten there sooner!"
I tuned out the argument going on behind me.
"Sasuke! There's another person here!" Karin yelled, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Where?"
"Up there in that tree."
I looked up. I didn't see anything at first.
I heard some rustling.
Then a familiar voice said, "Long time, no see, Sasuke."
