Ch. 7: Interesting Day

Mae's POV

-Next School Day-

It's barely a day in and I wanna go back to home schooling..

But I can't say that. I wanna show my parents that I'm responsible.

Honestly, I want to know why Johnny is being so.. Weird.

I mean you'd think you'd hang out with a girl after you find out they're your half sister!

Ponyboy would still try talking to me but no luck. Because right before him and I could say one word to eachother, Johnny would pull him away.

It's lunch and I am determined to talk to Johnny.

I see him come out of a classroom and I run down to him.

"Wait up Johnny!" I say.

He walks even faster. I got frustrated and just sprinted to him.

I pulled his arm and he quickly jolted it away.

"What do you want." He says irritated.

"Why you're being so mean! Why can't I talk to Ponyboy?! You'd think someone would talk to someone more after they find out they're half siblings!" I say running out of breath.

"You broke my family. You're the reason why my parents abuse me. And you expect me to actually want to talk to you?" He says dumbfounded at the fact that I wanted him and I to talk.

"Okay.. Well I get that but why pull Pony away?.. I want to get to know him.." I say softly.

"He's my bestfriend. Once you enter his life, you enter mine officially. Whether it's being my half sister or being my best friends girlfriend and honestly I don't even want to see you around school let alone have you in my life." He says, walking away.

My heart was beating faster than normal and my breath kept hitching.. I was having a panic attack.

I fell to the ground, trying to gasp for air but my lungs fought to keep the air away.

My vision turns a bit blurry and I see Bella rushing my way.

"Mae! Mae! What's happening?!" She screams.

"Pa..nic.. At.." I manage to say before she figured it out. She pulled out her inhaler and let me use it.

After two pumps I felt better.

"What happened?.." Bella says looking at me with sympathy.

"I don't know.." I say looking at the ground. She just nodded her head.

"Lunch?" She asks.

I smiled and nodded lightly.

Bella is pretty popular since shes captain of the cheerleading team but shes so nice. Also sarcastic and hilarious.

As we got our lunches, we go to sit down at a table. I pass by Pony who was in the middle of biting his sandwich but he still managed wave at me.

I laugh. And wave back.

Johnny comes and rolls his eyes.

I dont know why but after having a panic attack he scares me...

We finally reached the table and it was full of cheerleaders and football players. Not really my cup of tea since they were so loud..

I silently ate my food while Bella was talking but shed check on me here and there.

"So where you from, Newbie?" A blonde boy asked, with a smirk.

"Oh I'm from the East Side.. I used to live in the West Side for a while though." I say softly.

They looked at me weirdly.

"So, like, In Between?" The blonde boy asks again.

"I get that a lot but yeah. "Like, In Between" I say mocking him at the end.

Bella stiffles a laugh.

"Ha. Ha." The Jock says in a monotone voice.

I winked at him to get him more irritated.

Bella bursted out laughing this time and I couldnt help but laugh with her.

And the rest of the table gave us weird looks but we couldn't care less.
