Ch.16: Feud

Mae's POV

I love Ponyboy. But he would be my first boyfriend you know? Its just so weird. I feel like we're rushing it. But I know hes mine. Mine only. And Cherry can't do anything about it.

Pony and I were walking hand in hand going to lunch but my shoulder slams into someone elses and I fall to the floor.

Pony was the first to say something, "Cherry what's your problem?!?"

"Oh my god! Pony I am so sorry!"

Pony picks me up effortlessly and gets me to my feet, "Mae are you okay..?" I nod.

"Cherry. Its not me you should say sorry to. Say sorry to Mae."

Pony looks at me because he knows how angry I get.

She looks at me up and down and scoffs, "Yeah. Sorry." And rolls her eyes.

Pony looks at me, knowing how mad I get telling me it'll be alright.

-The following evening..-

Pony and I were at the park with Johnny. It was getting late but Pony got in a fight with Dally and ran to my house. Yeah! The other side of town! He's crazy.

But my mom let me out because Pony will protect me if anything.

We were chilling on the playground when we saw Cherry and some other Socs pull up.

The boys look at Pony and Johnny. Cherry and I were looking at each other.

The Socs were about to grab Pony, "STOP. Not him. The other one I dont care about. And you can mess with this one if you want. But the blondie doesn't get hurt." Cherry says.

The boys look at me as if I was a piece of meat but Pony put him arm infront of me and glares at the guys.

The guys pull Johnny and he falls off the thing we were sitting in.

Pony shoves the guys and before they could do anything we speed off.

We ran to where Dally usually is. "WHERE IS DALLAS?" We ask Buck.

He looks at us and closes the door.

We keeo knocking and he eventually let us in, "Say. Can I have a little chat with the little lady. One on one?" He says, obviously drunk.

"Eyes off. Shes mine." Pony says.

"Lets go to a bedroom." A girl suddenly wraps her arms around Pony.

"No hes mine. How about you go to a bedroom. Maybe get some beauty sleep. You need it" I say.

Before anyone else can stop us we sprint up the stairs.

"DALLAS." I scream.

He bursts awake to process everything and gets mad.

"God damn it! If I was drunk and didn't recognize your voice Mae you would be head first down the god damn stairs!" He screams.

My face fell.

"Ugh. Just. Its okay. What are you guys doing here?"

"The Socs were about to jump us so we went to find you because we didnt feel safe anywhere else." Johnny says.

Dallas mumbles some swear words as he gets up to go talk to Buck real quick.

Him and Buck come back with comforters and pillows.

They set up a bed for us and we lay down. I felt uncomfortable in these skinny jeans and body con shirt.

Ponyboy takes off his shirt and puts it to the side, "uhm.. Pone can I wear your shirt?" I ask.

"Yeah go ahead Mae. What your wearing doesnt at all seem comfortable."

"NO LOOKING!" I scold the boys and they all turn.

Even though I couldnt see them because i was turned around, I knew Dallas and Pone were looking.

I take off the jeand too since the shirt is like a dress on me. We lay down and Im in the middle like always and Dally is on the bed.

I slept in Ponys arms easily because of how tired I was from running over here.. Hopefully my mom doesnt get mad...
