Mae's POV
"Mom. Can I hang out with Ponyboy today?" I ask my mom as she was behind the curtains showering.
"You know how much I love Ponyboy, baby girl. But your father has an off today. And not only will he be sad that you aren't with him for one of the only day's he's off, he'll be mad that you're hanging out with a guy." She says sincerely.
"Alright mom." I say, not arguing since what she said was true.
I go to the wall phone and call the gang's house. Two-Bit answers, "Yello?" I hear him slobber out. "Hello Keith. Can I talk to Pony?" I say to him.
He knows it's me because I'm the only one he doesn't kill when I call him Keith. "Quit calling me that! But alright just wait." I hear as he lets go of the phone. Suddenly I hear a voice that wasn't Pony's.
It was no other than Dallas Winston. "Hey little kid. What you need?" He asks.
"Damn Two-Bit. I asked for Pony not you Dall." I laugh. I hear Johnny yell, "HEY SIS" from afar. I laugh.
"Alright here's Pony." Dall says as it now transitions to Pony.
"Hey doll. What's up?" I hear his voice. It makes me smile.
"Sad to say it but my dad's off today. So, no beach. I know, I know. I would love to invite you over but my dad would not only kill you but me as well." I say seriously but laugh a bit.
I hear with laugh. "It's okay princess. Tomorrow I'll come over. After school. Since your dad doesn't come home til 9. And your mom loves me." He plans.
"Sounds good. See you tomorrow Pone." I smile.
"See you , Beautiful." I smile widely when he calls me that.
He and I aren't official but I love when him and I call each other cute things.
I always thought I was those people who get official before they start doing anything too cute, but with Pone, just being with him feels official. I know he'll ask me eventually.
But it kills me not being able to call him mine.
Or rub it in Ms. Perfect Valance's face.
