Drew's POV

I went to the freezer and grabbed 6 waffles, 3 for each of us then I put them in the toaster. Danny turned back around then started to scroll through something on his phone. I tried to look through Instagram but all I could think about was Danny. I shoved my phone back into my pocket. I grabbed the counter behind me and just stared at the floor. Lost in my thoughts. I didn't sleep well last night so I'm tired. But who would be able to sleep after their best friend told them they self-harm? I could only imagine how hard it was for Laura to hear the news. I don't know how to act normally and not use "Kid Gloves" with him. "Ding!" I grabbed the waffles then put them on plates for me and Danny. I grabbed forks and set a plate in front of Danny and took a seat across from him. I ate one waffle then I realized Danny hadn't taken a bite yet. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Really?" I said, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I'm just not super hungry." He said taking a bite of waffle he cut with his fork as if to prove a point.

"Okay." I don't even care anymore if this isn't the truth. I'm tired and I don't want to argue with him.

No one said anything the rest of the meal. I finished my waffles, Danny did too but he seemed to have forced himself. I just wish Danny could be himself again. I hate seeing him in so much pain. "I'm excited to go hiking." Ok, maybe he did want to go. "Me too, how about we leave in half an hour.?"

"Sure." Went to the couch and turned on the news. I do hate it but I wanted to know what the weather would be like today. A few minutes later Danny got up and went to the bathroom. I listen to the stupid weatherman talking about traffic. Then he finally said today was going to be 90 degrees and a 10% chance of rain. Danny came out of the bathroom and sat down next to me. "Do you want to leave now?" I said

"Yeah!"

"Alright let me get water bottles for both of us then we can go." I went to the kitchen Danny followed after me. Then I grabbed 2 bottles of water and passed a bottle to him. "Ready?" Danny asked excitedly.

"Sure. Let's go to the car." I went to the door that led to the garage, Danny followed me and we got into my car. I opened the garage door and drove out, closing it behind me. Danny pulled out his phone and began to do whatever he was doing. The place we were going to Amanda and me found by accident when we were trying to go to another hiking area. It had a beautiful waterfall though so it was worth it. After about 35 minutes we arrived. The entrance was just a grassy patch with space for a maximum of 20 cars.

Danny's POV

"I know it doesn't look like much but it is cool," Drew said while stepping out of the car.

"I bet it is." I was genuinely excited but was acting more worked up than I was. I couldn't let Drew see me struggling. I got out of the car and put my phone in my pocket. About 35 feet away there was a dirt path and with a map right next to it. "Let me show you the path we'll take." Drew started walking towards the big map, I followed him. "So If we start on the green path then switch over to the red path we can see the waterfall. If you want we could even go down into it."

"That sounds awesome!" It does sound cool to go down to the waterfall.

"Well let's go." I and Drew started walking down the green path. We walked in silence for a few minutes and then Drew and spoke up. "What else is wrong? I know kinda what is happening. I can tell you're hiding something."
