Yoongi wasn't wrong.
Maybe there was part of him that wanted the other to be. That wanted desperately to pretend like all of this was real. That wanted to forget, even just for a few moments, that the only way anyone was ever going to accept him was if he was representing some fantasy they wanted to live out.
And that was fine. It was. It was a mutually beneficial, artificial relationship where both of them got to pretend to be things they weren't.
But how did he separate it in his own mind? How did he compartmentalize so his heart didn't get involved?
He really should have asked that before he got in so deep.
...
"Do you have to go?" Cooking for Jungkook had been nice. Having someone to cook for at all had been nice, something he'd never had and didn't realize he could miss. But he would now. Every time he went out to his kitchen to heat up store bought instant ramen, he would wish he was cooking for Jungkook instead.
And that was a problem.
Within his own mind he had developed a plan. That he would find a way to separate the two parts of his life. That when he was with Jungkook, he would be the person the other was paying him to be. Fun and flirty, sweet and cute. Innocent. Almost demure but still with this air that said he knew how to be naughty. Whatever feelings developed within that space would be dumped along with the persona whenever this whole thing came to it's end.
The rest of the time he would just be himself. Someone who different enough that there would be no bleed over. That he wouldn't get confused and start thinking things he shouldn't and feeling things he couldn't.
"I stayed with you all night, daddy. Didn't you get enough of me?" He had brought something's - had spent a little bit of the money he had been given selfishly. Refused to allow Jungkook to do anymore for him than he already had. So he went out and bought some clothes. Just a couple of pieces that could be kept here. Had folded them all neatly, smiling widely as Jungkook cleared some space in a drawer for him.
It had been good. Fun. Special. That electricity buzzing between them. Yet Jungkook never tried to push for anything past cuddling - and even then he asked before just assuming he still had consent simply because he had before.
"Never." Jungkook was cute. Truly. Adorable most of the time. Like a lost little bunny that he just wanted to scoop up and keep. And that was hard enough to resist if he were being honest. But there was something else there too. Like a switch that could be flipped on and off to suddenly make him radiate so much daddy energy that no one could possibly withstand it. "I'll never get enough of you."
How was he supposed to respond to that? To someone saying they would never have enough of him? That they wanted him around?
"Don't be greedy." Flirting. He was shockingly good at it. Had enough confidence in his looks and himself to know he didn't sound ridiculous. "We can text tonight if you want."
"Video chat." It was like they were betting on something - him giving some low offer and Jungkook raising the stakes, seeing who would come out on top or if a compromise would happen instead.
"Text and I'll send you a picture." He already sort of had one in mind that he wanted to take. And okay, it was a little bit risky - but he wanted to do it anyway.
"We talk on the phone and you send me a video." It was so difficult to say no. It honestly, truly was. Especially when Jungkook was standing there, hair still messy from their sleep, stars igniting and twinkling within his dark eyes.
But he had to stay strong.
"Phone chat and one picture." Teeth sunk into his full bottom lip as he finished speaking, before cocking his head to one side. "But you have to send me one back."
