It was Yoongi's idea.
Actually, he learned later, all of this had been Yoongi's idea.
The idea and concept behind DaddyCandy was Yoongi's. Everything right down to the questionaire had been thought up entirely by him. And he should, by all rights, own all of it.
The problem, however, was while he may have been a genius, he was also broke. Young - a year younger than Seokjin was now, in fact. And there hadn't been any way a bank was going to give him a loan for something like this. A legitmate match making service? Sure, it may have sounded outdated, but considering the cess pool created by on line dating, it could have been really profitable.
So he'd made most of the money through doing exactly what he set others up for. Which was, ironically, how he had met the biggest investor in this entire scheme.
No one knew what Kim Namjoon actually did. To all of his friends he was just some mildy rich musical producer who had made something of a name for himself with under ground artist. But really, most of his money came from taking chances on people like Yoongi. Ones who had a good idea, but one that no one else would ever see as profitable.
The problem came from the fact that Yoongi didn't like anyone.
Actually, that was a lie. He tolerated Namjoon. Mostly because he had to.
But with time he had gotten exceptionally good at putting on an act which was slowly killing him inside. Not that he had much soul left, but he really wanted to hang on to what was there.
For reasons he would never understand, he liked Seokjin. Enough to ask if he wanted to come work with him. Be the first point of contact. The one that made the phone calls and handled the meetings. Yoongi would still work behind the scenes. Would analyze all of the data and make all of the matches.
And constantly remind Seokjin that not everyone came out of this arrangement with a husband.
...
So it was Yoongi's idea.
And really, it was a good idea. Because Seokjin truly was good at this. Had a certain warmth about him that instantly put people at ease. Probably because he could remember sitting there in that opposite chair, scared and worried out of his mind, wondering how this was all going to end. Just like the person he was interviewing.
"Welcome to DaddyCandy, who are you - oh." He could hear Yoongi's voice from the back office, and instantly he felt guilty, thinking he had clearly forgotten that there was an appointment coming in. They didn't really get many random clients, especially considering there was no advertising. "He's not here."
Those words stopped him in his tracks, leaving him half way out the door before jumping back, peering around the corner trying to see who had stepped in that Yoongi was so clearly trying to protect him from.
"Can you -" He knew that voice, could feel the sigh already rising up from deep within his chest.
"No. For the last time, Taehyung, I will not tell him you stopped by. I will not give him a message for you. I will not ask him to unblock you. You do know he's taken and stalking is a crime, right?"
"I just want to talk to him." This had clearly been happening for a while. Much longer than Yoongi had ever mentioned. Sure, he had spoken about it once. That Taehyung had stopped by asking for him, but hadn't gone into it beyond that.
"Yeah that's not -" But Yoongi didn't deserve to deal with whatever remnants of mess he had left behind. So he did the right thing. The brave thing.
"What do you want, Taehyung?" He tried to sound irritated. He did. Tried to sound as done as he felt. But the past was never really over, despite how far you moved away from it.
