When he looked up, Aesop saw a scene he would have preferred to avoid: Eli and Gertrude exchanging a kiss out of sight. There was nothing strange about a couple kissing, but he couldn't help but feel an intense pain inside him.

He quickly looked away before speeding up his pace to get out of there. He used to go home with Eli who lived right next door to him but this time he didn't feel like doing it.

Once home, he took off his shoes before going upstairs to his room. He put his bag down next to his desk before dropping onto his bed. He felt pathetic, pathetic to feel this way. He knew he had no right to feel this way but he couldn't help it.

He hated these feelings that prevented him from seeing his friend Eli simply as a friend.

The next morning, when he opened the door, the first thing he saw was Eli's worried look. He was probably waiting for him as they did every morning although most of the time it was Aesop who was waiting for Eli.

"Where were you yesterday?" he asked him.

Aesop lowered his head as he closed the door behind him.

"I-I had an emergency... Sorry..."

"Something serious?"

"N-no... It's okay..."

His excuse wasn't very credible but Eli didn't look any further and just returned his smile.

"Good for you in that case!" he declared enthusiastically.

Aesop felt a little guilty for lying to him but he suppressed that within himself, stepping out with Eli as usual.

The rest of the day went smoothly except for the fact that Norton wasn't there today. Aesop had received a message from him saying he was sick or something. That was rare coming from him so he replied that he would come see him after class to see how he was doing.

When class was over, Aesop sent a message to Eli saying that he had something to do and that he couldn't go home with him. A few minutes later, he received a reply from Eli, a little owl that said "OK". A smile appeared behind the young man's mask as he looked at his screen.

Oddly enough, Eli had a certain obsession with birds, especially owls. He wondered why someone like him who glowed like the sun was so fond of this nocturnal animal but he quickly stopped thinking about it before leaving the school to walk towards Norton's house.

Currently, this was the first time he had been to his house and he had a very poor sense of direction. Without him realizing it, he had ended up near a children's park. He noticed a person he had seen before in the company of another, but he was not too sure because he was a bit far away and it was impossible that this person was there.

Nevertheless, a doubt settled in him and he wanted to know more. There were many trees in the park, so he discreetly approached the two people hiding behind a large oak tree. That's when he saw her, Gertrude. Except that the other person with her was not Eli but another man.

'What the...' he thought.

He decided to quickly leave his hiding place and go out of the park. Once away from them, he heard a voice calling his name.

"Aesop?"
