Someone's boyfriend [Elisop]

Chapter 4

Luca's persistent gaze towards Aesop was beginning to embarrass him. Why was he staring at him like that ? Aesop didn't know what to do except look in the opposite direction, uncomfortable. Seeing the scene, Norton gave Luca a smack on the head. 

"Hey !" shouted Luca.

"Stop messing with him."

"Pfft..."Luca let himself fall backwards, a pouty face put on. 

But a sparkle passed through his eyes and he suddenly stood up, startling Norton and Aesop.

"Just now !" he shouted.

"Just now ?" repeated Norton.

"I saw him watching a couple in the park !"

Aesop froze at the mention. A couple...? Gertrude was dating Eli though... But the other person who was with her at the time was definitely not Eli. He was a little shorter and wore glasses. Did that mean she was cheating on Eli...?

"Aesop?" 

Norton looked at Aesop a little concerned because Aesop was silent. It wasn't really weird because it was Aesop but something just felt wrong.

"Err... Did I say something wrong ?" asked Luca as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"What did you see Aesop ?" 

Aesop knew he couldn't keep this to himself and that Norton wouldn't let go until he got an answer. Plus he didn't want to worry the only other friend he had. So he decided to tell him what he saw in the park. 

"That viper..." muttered Norton.

"Um... So if I understood, in addition to what Norton already told me about you, to summarize: You love your best friend Eli but he is already dating a certain Gertrude and you just saw this same Gertrude in the arms of another man." explained Luca.

"Y-Yes..."

"Isn't that perfect in this case ?" he said with a smile.

"W-what ?"

Aesop didn't understand what Luca meant by that. What was good about learning that his best friend moreover the one he loved was being cheated on.

"It's simple though ! All you have to do is go and report everything to Eli who will separate from her and at that point who else will he turn to for comfort but you ?"

"Hm... He's not wrong." replied Norton after Luca's explanation.

"But... I don't want to break Eli's heart... Plus there's nothing that says Gertrude is really cheating on him, maybe I just saw wrong..."

"I don't think so. The chance that a girl and a boy could be alone in a park where not many people pass by is low unless there is really something going on between them." said Luca.

Aesop said nothing more. He didn't know what to say anymore. How could he tell Eli about this ? The thought of making him sad tore his heart apart. Norton then placed a comforting hand on Aesop's shoulder.

"I understand how you feel, but think of Eli as well. Don't you think he would like to know the truth as well ?"

"S-surely yes..."

"If nothing else, why don't we spy on him for a day or two and find out for sure ?" offered Luca.

"That's not a bad idea and we may as well take a picture of them as proof if it all turns out to be true." continued Norton.

"Well then it's decided ! If you need extra hands don't hesitate to call me !" said Luca energetically as he stood up.

Aesop didn't really have a chance to step in but he figured it was probably the best thing to do. So he exchanged contact information with Luca and then returned home, his head filled with various thoughts of Gertrude, and Eli.
