For the rest of the weekend, Aesop did not speak to Eli once. He stayed cooped up in his room most of the time, ignoring the messages Eli sent him. On Monday morning, he got up early to avoid any unexpected encounters. He arrived in his classroom and lay down on his table with a sigh. Eli must have been disappointed. Aesop had come to comfort him but he ended up ignoring him in the end.
Norton arrived a little later and was surprised to see Aesop in this state. He pulled out the chair that was in front of Aesop's table and sat down on it, looking at his friend.
"I thought things were settled so why are you playing dead ?"
"Norton..."
Aesop stood up and told Norton what happened on Saturday and thus the reason for his distress.
"So that's why you have a dreadful face?" he asked a little bewildered."D-don't just say 'That's why' !"
"Pfff... Aesop Carl, I really think you should relax more." he said, stifling a laugh.
Aesop frowned at Norton's response, who didn't seem to be taking him seriously at all, if not mocking him.
"No really, I personally think it might be time for you to tell Eli everything."
"B-but... I know he doesn't like men and-"
"Because he dated a girl doesn't say he doesn't feel anything for men, many people make
that mistake before they realize their true orientation."
"Still, that's no reason to tell him I love him..."
"And maybe everything that happened is just a sign to push you to say it."
"I-I don't know..."Their conversation ended there after the bell for the start of class rang. Hours passed and it was lunch break. Aesop used to eat with Norton and Eli on the roof because it was quieter than in the crowded classroom but he preferred not to do so this time for fear of running into Eli.
Suddenly, loud footsteps could be heard coming from the hallway as if someone was running. Aesop turned his head towards the source of the noise when a breathless and somewhat irritated looking Eli came upon him.
"Aesop Carl."
Aesop flinched at the call of his name. This one was probably pissed off after Aesop had ignored him this whole time. He didn't give him a second to reply before pulling him out of the classroom by the arm.
"See ya later ~" Norton told him while waving his hand, a slight smile on the corner of his lips.
Eli pulled Aesop along the hallway and then further up the stairs until they were both on the roof. Eli suddenly let go of Aesop's arm, which must have been a little sore from the pressure he had put on it. He then placed his two hands on each side of Aesop's face, preventing him from escaping.
"Well, you're now going to tell me what's wrong Aesop." He said coldly with a forced smile on his face."I-I..."
"Don't even try to tell me otherwise after ignoring me for two days."
What could he do now? Here he was, trapped in front of Eli who was waiting for a clear and precise answer. Ha... Maybe it was time to put an end to everything after all ? Maybe all that was weighing on his mind would leave him after this...
