IT was the battle that changed everything our heroes have ever known.
Their lives started on a distant planet far, far, away. The first natural birth in centuries made Kal and Kalura-El of Krypton different from other Kryptonian's. Some would say they were miracles while others would say they were outcasts.
One being, in particular, was General Zod of Kandor. A hot-headed soldier with a trigger-happy finger. The man who started a coop to save his planet for all the wrong reasons. In an angered attempt of stopping the twin's mother, Lara, he brutally murdered their father, Jor-El, at the realization he failed the mission of what he originally started.
Now, on their way to earth, they went through their lives raised by a benevolent family by the names of Jonathan and Martha Kent. Kal-El was given the name Clark Kent, Clark from his mother's last name. He was the farm boy with the world on his shoulders. Tall, pale, thick curly hair that tangled easily if kept long. He was as charming as he was awkward.
Kalura-El was named Jessica Kent, after her grandmother from Jonathan's side. She was as beautiful as she was shy. She was taller than most girls, stopping at a height of 5'8 but held the prettiest blue eyes. The perfect depiction of the girl next door with the biggest secret hidden underneath.
When they were just sixteen, their father was ripped away from them and left them to trudge the world with their widowed mother by their side.
And, so, two years after high school, Clark disappeared with nothing but a note. This left Jessica confused as to what she was supposed to do. As she grew older, she found solace in her friend Lois Lane and Lionel Luthor.
When the time called for it, she helped take down General Zod with her brother, finding her true purpose in life. Jessica Kent, the small-town girl making her life in the big city, was slowly coming together. She was happy, happy that her brother was by her side; that he found love in such a wonderful woman like Lois Lane.
Although it wasn't as wonderful as it could have been, she met The Batman. A strong, tall, dark vigilante, with a dark past, whose attention was grasped by her sassy nature and beautiful personality.
Their relationship started one-sided, he wanted to save her from a premonition bestowed upon him by a man in red. No matter how hard he tried, in the end, he won the reporter's heart instead.
Together, they bloomed like a thousand roses in a flourishing field, signaling that spring was there to nourish the seeds of their affections until the root of an ignoble threat began to sicken the soil like a plague.
That's when she found herself stumbling upon Bruce Wayne, suddenly finding herself entangled in his web of lies.
She was torn between two men from two sides of the same coin. Until one night, they realized they were both the same person.
Batman, Bruce Wayne, and Jessica, Superwoman.
By the evil efforts of Lex Luthor, he had turned something quite confusing and so beautiful into a dangerous battle for the life of Jessica's mother.
Now, it was the fight between good and evil. A God and a Man. In the end, Lex Luthor's plan went into vein upon hearing the news that they were both alive.
He released a monster named Doomsday, wreaking havoc amongst the good city of Metropolis. The heroes, Superman, Superwoman, Batman, and Wonder Woman fought with all their might.
When their efforts proved to be fruitless, Superwoman tried to take the monster down on her own; ready to sacrifice her life for the greater good of the world. Instead, she was defeated and left with a mangled arm and an inch left of her life.
Wonder Woman tried her luck as well, fighting Doomsday with everything she's acquired over 5,000 years. That too fell through as Doomsday flung her away with mighty power.
Batman, the hero with no power, used what he knew best, his gadgets. If it weren't for his quick thinking, Superman's death would have been in vain. He shot his last can of Kryptonite gas at Doomsday, weakening him long enough for Superman to finish what he started.
With his chest wounded, Clark felt the sharp bone further pierce his skin until it collided with the beating of his rapid heart. He let out a loud painful cry as it broke through the air, riding the soundwaves to reach the furthest corners of the planet.
It shocked the older guardians who held the secrets of the past, watching as they're fears came true.
But before it reached them, it reached Jessica first. It was the feeling of something being ripped away from her. It was strong enough to wake her from her temporary vegetive state. She snapped her blue eyes wide open with a loud gasp. Her uninjured hand flew to her chest, around the same area that her brother's skin was punctured through.
Superwoman slowly felt the life of her brother slip away from her war scorn fingertips. It was like losing something most dear to you but it was stronger than grief, more powerful than any sadness she's ever felt.
She felt part of her soul ripped away with no remorse as to how she would react to it at all. And then she heard it, the horrid cry of her brother flying through every fiber in her body until she remembered what it sounded like.
What it felt like to experience such a gut-wrenching sound. It was the cry of a warrior breathing his last breath, fighting until there was no more fight left.
Thus, marking the end of a 5,000-year-old peace and the beginning of the end.
