JESSICA stood in a hallway of the cave, looking at her House of El key in deep thought.

Bruce, looking for her, finally found her. He watched her fiddle with a small grey object that looked alien in nature. He cracked one of his fingers with his thumb before calling her name. "Jess?"

She jumped out of her thoughts. She hid the key from him. "Yeah?"

The bat took a few steps closed to her. "You okay?"

She shrugged while puffing her cheeks out. "You know me, always thinking."

Bruce motioned to her right hand. "What's that?"

"Hm?" She pretended to not know what he was talking about. When in doubt, play dumb. It usually helps her out of a situation when someone doesn't know how to read her. In this case, she wasn't going to get away with it. Bruce gave her a look. He was giving her the opportunity to come clean or he'd find out himself. Jess bit her lip before giving in. "It's my family crest." She showed him the key. "Clark had one just like it, but he used his to activate the ship he and I came to earth in to defeat Zod's army." She ran her fingers over it. "I've never used it, so I have no idea what it does."

Bruce looked at it in her hand, gently running his gloved finger over it before it moved up to her wrist. "Maybe you should go back to the scout ship." Be suggested. "Figure out what's going on."

She put the necklace back on, avoiding his question. "How's Victor doing?"

"Did you hear what I said?"

"Yeah, and I replied with another question."

Bruce clenched his jaw in exasperation. "You know," He looked over at Victor. "Wanted to be by himself." He breathed. "We're asking a kid who just lost his father to go up against the most powerful machines in the universe." He crossed his arms. "It's not fair."

Jess felt herself smile. "I thought you didn't care?"

"I never said that." He corrected before looking over to a spot right across from Barry, who was eating a snack Alfred made for him.

She noticed, looking over to see what he was staring at. "What is it?"

He looked at her. "Uh..." He debated if he should tell her or not. The whole experience was intense all on its own. He not only witnessed the death of hundreds of thousands of people, but he watched the woman he fell in love with being sucked into a black hole and be okay with it.

What worsened the situation was not that it was slowly becoming a reality. It was that he still didn't understand the message. "I had a dream, like, I don't know, almost like a premonition." He looked over at Barry. "It was the end of the world and Barry Allen was right over there and he said to me, 'Jessica is the key'."

Jess furrowed her brows in confusion. She crossed her arms. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I couldn't exactly tell the woman I swore to protect that she was the key to Superman." Bruce defended in a hushed voice. "The goal was to protect you, not freak you out. Besides, I was hellbent on destroying you and your brothers alter ego. That wouldn't have been the best thing, now would it?"
